I queue as tank and I see more 4 ranged groups than a mix of ranged and melee. Same for light parties. Always have 2 ranged more often than 2 melee or 1 of each. It's all in your head.

If you have a ranged and a melee class 50+ available you can test it yourself. Just queue up, check the approx time and then leave queue and try it with the other class. For me it was 30m ranged vs 10m melee just now. It will give in and fill spots with all ranged eventually, but it does seem to attempt to make a varied party priority.

In order to corroborate this data are you doing this msq at the same time same server same day or is this over the course of several days and several different times.?For the past few days melee queue times have been a fraction of the time it is for range. At the time of this posting my Ninja had a < 5min queue wait but my Red Mage is sitting at 26mins. Yesterday my Ninja was at 10min and Red Mage was > 30min.
The MSQ roulette doesn't need a class balance like other dungeons, trials or raids. Just throw in whatever DPS have been waiting the longest.

It's not in OP's head, it's a system introduced around patch 2.3 that prioritizes a mix of melee and ranged, it does NOT restrict parties to exclusively a mix of melee and ranged.
This means that melee and ranged have each their own queue for every single content in DF. The DF algorithm will check for any DPS from each queue, if one queue doesn't have enough dps then it takes from the second queue again (this is how you end with 3-4 ranged in one party).
The problem is that we have 4 melee and 6 ranged, so most of the time melee queues be shorter than ranged. On top of this dancer will be flavor of the month for a while longer, and this affects the ranged queue even more.
I don't think they can turn off the system just for MSQ roulette.

This is exactly right. Everyone saying they don't see the issue because they have full ranged parties are actually giving great examples of the problem. A melee queuing would have jumped them in the line. It's not in OP's head, it's a system introduced around patch 2.3 that prioritizes a mix of melee and ranged, it does NOT restrict parties to exclusively a mix of melee and ranged.
