A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
I'm confused as to why this would be the case? Can't people be around that were friends? If anything Hythlodaeus shows just how important Emet's people were to him, and not just a "CW show/incestuous" "everyone is related in this universe" kind of thing?
It's also a bit more poignant for us as well. That we get a glimpse of our past selves and those that meant something to us as well during that dialog. It felt like talking to a wise uncle/relative that was there probably times when we were down - even though we were considered one of the wise members 14th that we did have people around us that we probably confided in. The fact that Hythlodaeus knew about our personality and found what happened to us fitting.
So for the reason Hythlodaeus and othe Amaurotine words sound Greek I could have answered that. It is because Sir Thomas More used Greek words in Utopia.
Hythlodaeus was the European visitor to Utopia. His name means "giver of or expert in nonsense."
Amaurot was Utopia's capital. It means "the darkening place."
Anyder was Utopia's main river. It means "waterless" (anhydatos).
Achorian were their neighbours. Their name means "people without a country."
And so on. Basically every place name in Amaurot is lifted from Utopia, whose name can either mean "good place" (eutopia) or "no place" (outopia). The Utopians in More's book had all their material needs met and lots of leisure time but little personal freedom. They spent their free time learning and debating.
Hmm I don't think they understood the question about the Chrysalis, or it was perhaps mistranslated, but all the same the answer is interesting, and lends some weight to the idea that the Twelve, in turn, may be a collective memory of the Convocation, given its own twists and flairs.
My interpretation of it is that it wasn't so much that he was uniquely powerful, in the way Zenos or Emet-Selch might be, but that he was able to blind side us somewhat. In a sense there is a bit of borrowed power involved, due to the bond with the serpent, but certainly nothing Sin Eater.Did not expect my questions answered![]()
Glad to see they are very respectful to each other characters as they write individual scenarios for things, also now i can save any specific Emet/Vauthry/Exarch questions for Natsuko Ishikawa rather than blindly asking everytime.
Also nice to see that Ran'jit's strength was purely his rather than being a mix of his martial style and sin eater boosting, did not expect to get the information about his ancestry being from outside Norvandt which truly makes his martial style a lost art unless a random person in Eulmore army was trained which i doubt at this point.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
Given Ran'jit's appearance and who he associates with it wouldn't have been a stretch to think he may have been given a boost by something not his own, his serpent is made from his aether so the serpent is his own power so when he fused with it he was just putting all his aether back into his body. So Ran'jit straight only used his strength when we fight him which was good to find out.My interpretation of it is that it wasn't so much that he was uniquely powerful, in the way Zenos or Emet-Selch might be, but that he was able to blind side us somewhat. Guy butt is best butt <3
On that point, was it confirmed that it is made of his own aether, or is this an inference from it being a familiar (unless that in turn confirms it)?Given Ran'jit's appearance and who he associates with it wouldn't have been a stretch to think he may have been given a boost by something not his own, his serpent is made from his aether so the serpent is his own power so when he fused with it he was just putting all his aether back into his body. It's also worth recalling that whilst fragmented, some souls on the First do still possess the Echo, which could be the case with him. That, plus an unfamiliar fighting style, may have proved enough to temporarily allow him to hold off the WoL... until it wasn't enough.
He is an interesting character and I am glad they avoided going down the "part Sin Eater" route for him, because I feel it'd cheapen it somewhat as a plot angle, given that it had already been used for Vauthry.

Its not a matter of one being more poignant than the other it was just one of my theories being squashed. I never thought we would be a lover to Emet in any way.I'm confused as to why this would be the case? Can't people be around that were friends? In the whole the whole not being more poignant than the other that is false both can be as poignant as long as it is written to be so... (my whole crying post was written before I went to sleep).
I always knew that my theory was just what it was a theory and could be shown to be false. *shrugs* I even admitted as much before. In the end I still want to know who we were back in Amaurot and how we ended up being who we are now. And now I'll say this for a 3rd or 4th time... I hope we start to remember bits and pieces of our original life during the msq.

Aww when I say incestuous it wasn't meant that Emet and the WoL are lovers I meant that in a lot of TV show universes everyone is too closely related, and extras...are extremely rare. It was nice to have more worldbuilding than just our relation to Emet, and how significant without others being present. Its not a matter of one being more poignant than the other it was just one of my theories being squashed. Though now the more I think about it though the last lines of Emet can now have a more deeper meaning than just the whole dont forget we existed... it can also have been a plea as well for the WoL to remember who he/she was... (ahh the speculations running rampant in my mind.)
