    Cofused about arcanist/summoner pets

    I was looking over the wiki about the differences between the pets for the 3 classes of arcanist/summoner/scholar since I plan on eventually leveling scholar & summoner up later. My confusion is why do the level 40 egi assault spells all do significantly less potency than the level 10 spells? Aerial slash (level 10 required) does 60 potency while slipstream (level 40 requirement) does 20. Downburst (level 10 requirement) does 40 while glittering emerald (level 40) does TEN. It makes absolutely no sense to me. Is the tooltip wrong or is this actually a downgrade to use the pet special after 40?

    Aerial Slash is a direct attack while Slipstream is a direct attack+DOT.

    Don't worry about Downburst or Glittering Emerald as you won't have Emerald Carbuncle after getting Garuda.

    So Slipstream does a potency direct attack of 20 and then a dot of a potency of 20 too? I'm really confused because the tooltips don't say its a dot just an AOE attack for both attacks.

    Here's how we read this.

    The initial hit is for 20 potency. Then it creates a damage field that ticks for 20 potency every three seconds* for 15s. So one initial hit for 20 and five ticks for 20 each if things stay inside, for a total of 120 over 15s, to everything that is in the radius for the full duration.

    * almost all DoTs tick every three seconds. MCH Flamethrower ticks every second.
