I have never seen level sync, did quit FFXI before.

But what ive heard from experienced FFXI veterans, it sucks.
I hope they improve party-play and never add such crap like level-sync.

Gameplay for the ones with less time to play because of Family and Work: Yes, please.
Let Party-play be a no-brainer because of ppl who dont like to use their brain and want to hack&slay Rank 1 mobs all the way up to Rank cap: No, thanks.

Im glad we dont have it here and i hope they never bring it to FFXIV.
If you dont know what it is how can you say that?

    Read up on it.

Those who dont want it are usually just jealous of those who had an "easy" levelling curve, or find that cuse someone hit 75 in qufim makes any difference than someone hitting it on colibri (Its just a different mob and ur just doign different skills.......... nothing else)

Those who do want it realise the potentional to be able to level with friends without having to be forced onto specific jobs or waiting until they catch up or hoping they wait for you to catch up or being sad they cant level with friends as they not high enough.

Its very clear that you never used XI's level sync, and as a FFXI vet, it was amazing... I don't know why your friends felt it to be so wrong, and I do know people who didn't care for it, so in that case I'd say, then don't use it. But others shouldn't be penalized because some people don't want it.

In XI, you couldn't level sync until Level 10, it didn't go lower then that, and they could easily add some balance to it in FFXIV... Where as the SP calculations would be based off the sync, and then have some kind of deduction for being over the sync... So in the case of a rank 30 player syncing to a Rank 10 party, players who are Rank 10 get 100% sp/xp while players who are rank 30 get 50% Sp/XP... (Or some other numbers or math, etc, I'm just making up numbers as an example)

In this case, everyone still gets sp/xp and can party, but the higher level players would get less... And less is better then nothing, as well as throwing off the sp/xp calcs for the lower ranking players.

With some kind of penalty like this, everyone can group, get sp/xp and thus as players rank up they would naturally be encouraged to move to a new zone, to get the best sp/xp and not re-sync down to 10 again.

Now also, since there might be some who don't know how this also works... You can't just set a level and sync down to it, you must have someone of that level in your party... As they level up the party's sync level goes up too... You can't sync down, unless you get someone who is the player who want to sync with... thus vets end up helping out new players, and people can play with each other however they choose.

Right now, I never get to play my con with my friends because I'm 25 ranks higher then they are, so end on working on other classes that I don't have any interest in... :S

Yea I must admit as a vet myself level sync helped me a lot with parties. The wait times were very minimal and I could even play with my brother or friends that were lower than me. The problem with level sync comes from not being balanced properly but instead just allowing the syncing down of players while not taking into account the opportunities for exploits.

Even if they add level sync they should keep analyzing it and keeping watch for exploits such as smn burns in XI.

edit: Even GW2 is using a level sync feature so why can't SE use a feature they already had? As previously stated I am neutral overall but for XIV I can see a lot more good than bad.

Agreed! I think most everyone who wants level sync would love to have some balance with it, but for me level sync allowed me to play with my friends, and brothers, who came in the game years after I had been playing and since at that point I didn't have any lower level jobs I ended up having to power level them on my white mage (for those who don't know, that means standing outside the party, and curing them)

This was dull for me, as well as not so much fun for them... Enter level sync, I was able to group with them and have a challenge too... It allowed us to find and meet new players and form parties without the need to wait around for hours to get our sixth member, as players would ask, are you ok to sync.

The responses were "sure!!!" or "no thanks!"

I'm with you, balance the system, but let us play with our friends and family come PS3 release.
