    My In-Game To-do List

    Hi everyone,

I usually just read the notes, check the forums for anything I might find interesting, and go back to the game. Haven't really been posting much anymore because there is so much to do in the game. I don't have a little list with To-Dos on it, but I do have some things I think to myself that I'd like to do if I can find the time. I figured I'd post them here, and maybe help some of you bored people with something to do that you may have missed

A little about me. I'm the leader of a decent sized Ls on Gysahl server. I love it, and my Ls keeps me super super busy, so I almost never get time to do much, but here is my list.

    1. Get Ifrit's Axe. - So far I have Staff, and sword. I'd like the Axe for my MRD though.
    2. Level more classes to 50. I still have Arc and Lnc sitting at 0.
    3. Get all the Sentinels Armor. So far, I only have the hands.
    4. Do more company quests. I never really do them, but I should for more marks.
    5. Do class/story quests. I've never had time to do any of them at all.
    6. Craft LW. I don't really like crafting or gathering, but I'd like to get at least one up.

I really do play a lot, and I have a super amazing LS who would help me I know if I needed, but I really never have time. Why? There is only 24 hours in a day. Say I sleep 8, and play FFXIV the other 16. Our LS does our activities in terms of events. We post an event on our website, and then our members sign up. So say there is an Ifrit event at 8am, Megaboss at 1pm, and grind party at 5pm. My day is shot. We gather at Ifrit, and get inside by 9. Kill it maybe? 6 times? By then It's around 11pm or later. Perhaps 12 if we had to replace a member who left. So now we have an hour or two break before the next event. So we do the next event for 5 hours, and then onto the next.

The point I'm trying to make is that there isn't a lot to do, but there is enough to do that I can barely find time for it. Now moogle is coming up, more quests I'm sure, I know my Ls will be doing achievements. We're going to be busy. And It's only getting better. Right now, half the people who play this game are pro at Ifrit. Most of us probably have the under 10 min achievement. But think about if you just joined the game.. say next month. Not only do you have to get 50, but you will spend how many days just learning Ifrit. Maybe another day just getting your Choco.

I really think SE is creating this game not for the losers like me who have been sitting around trying our best to do every piece of content available, but for the new players who are going to join this game, and not have all the right formulas figured out on how to beat ifrit in 10 min, or how to get 50 in 3 days.

Even with all this, I realize the current stuff is monotonous, but perhaps you just haven't found the right linkshell. Our linkshell seriously stays so busy with events and helping each other, I can't even find the time level my other jobs lol.

I'm not really a super big fan girl, and I don't really care about 10 dollars a month enough to let it phase me, but I honestly think MMORPGs are about the community. And by community, I don't mean the losers who sit on the forums all day and flame each other. I mean the people in the game doing stuff together who barely have time to read these posts. I'm almost certain my LS won't even see this post I've made. Perhaps if you do some searching, and find a LS that's right for you, you will find the game a little more fun. I understand motivation, and I understand that applies to bettering yourself, but it also can mean bettering others as well. Just find that family like you had in FFXI, and have fun with them.

Sorry about the odd writing style of this post. I wasn't really sure where I was going when I wrote. Just.. wrote. My conclusion surprised me like it did you, but I think typing this made me realize it as well. Anyway, have fun or not, it's really your mindset, your choice, and your Ls.. or lack thereof lol.

Community is the key to XIV atm. Op's ls does things very similar to what I do with my linkshell.

Having a linkshell to keep active is what the game more or less requires atm.

Honestly I think half the issues are people trying to get by with small social linkshells and trying to get by with shout groups for events. Atm that simply will not work. Get into a linkshell of 15+ish active ppl who want to play the game and you will never have problems finding something to do everyday. Ls Leaders of active groups schedule events, if people know they can get on and do something immediately they will get on at that time. When everyone knows hey I am in a linkshell that is active (always doing something) people are less likely to bounce between 5-8 linkshells which is a major reason so many linkshells are hurting for members alot.

This game can keep you busy especially if it is with a linkshell. Especially one where the leaders go out of the way to plan activities.

This game is horrible solo, but when you add in other players. It is surprisingly entertaining. And when everyone start working together for a goal bigger then self improvement, it is actually pretty fun.

My linkshell is not the norm we have an average of 30-32 people online throughout NA prime time which is huge for this game atm and really you can get by with 1/2 if you are not serious about endgame, but how we operate sounds alot like the OP's linkshell. With scheduled events and what not. And her statment about community and finding the right linkshell cannot be more true. Being without a linkshell or a wrong linkshell your experience will be horrible, find the right one and you will log in just to play with the group. "if it wasn't for this linkshell I would of have quit" I heard that line so many times from my members, makes you feel good but I truly believe the right ls/guild makes the game.

People wanting to find an active group, look for one with scheduled events that does them. Don't have to be hardcore ls, but one that actively does things as a group.

Leaders wanting to get people who will not insta-quit/bring drama into your linkshell, schedule some activities even if they are optional... if people know they can log on and have something they can do... they will.

The key to not getting bored with the game is the Santa outfit. Just saying.

...You don't work or go to school right? And if you do have a job, and still manage to play at work...then you aren't really working right? Or were you referring to weekends?

he/she pretty much stated he/shes the fat guy from south park... he/she has a life, its Final Lifasty XIV. I read that post and laughed hard... i dont NEARLY play 16 hours a day and if i did, i'm pretty sure i wouldnt be driving a 2011 maxima, have a 22 yr old gf and 7month old son... just saying, poor prioritizing. however even at 8 hours a day, every day with a job and 6-8 hours of sleep is doable. well unless u have friends who u actually talk to on a regular basis that arent internet related. i myself am currently unemployed but thankfully bills somehow still get payed. but back to op's point. A ls with a non self righteous, non greedy attitude will get a LS places just fine. its all about planning and knowing member's schedules and working with them

I said "say" I do that. I don't actually do that... most of the time Besides, the point I was making that even with 16 hour play times, I can't accomplish everything I want to. The point was that with a nice Ls, you will be busy lol

Right now, I have 1 goal:

Get a whole set of double melded sentinel's gear. (and damn if that celata and cuirass aren't thorns in my side)
