I'm for level sync, eff the haters, they act like level sync made bad players, and that we concentrated into 4 zones. What kinda of weak ass server do you stay from 20-75 at qufim? Wow lame. There's still so many other camps to go to way better than qufim even if you are level syncing. Like any effing bird camp, which was out before level sync, is still better with level sync. I only level synced down to people still within a 2-3 level sync in most parties. Wasn't till 80 cap came out you couldn't find a party for your 50 because the 75s were snatching every level sync party because they didn't get how abyssea worked yet.
In XIV there are 5 people in my ls over 40, 2 rank 50 plays, 3 rank 43-44 players (i'm like 1800sp to 44 been lazy, lol), the rest of the 30 people in my linkshell are below the rank of 30 with most of them being around 34, the game advertises a plus/minus 10 level range for partying so I should be able to put a 44 in a party with a 34 and get some sort of sp, but its not possible, and it more likely to gimp the lower level players sp than mine. I would like to be able to not gimp a lower levels sp if i want to play with them and they are within 10 levels. Sorry all ya'll solo, or got to r50 fast, but I went to school for most of this first year I've been playing, so while I took advantage of summers and winter breaks to get to a high level, I know people who log in everyday and still don't level shit >.< I should be able to grab them, shake them, and make them level, *LEVEL SYNC* *angel voices*
I'm all for level sync. Level sync should be implemented, to me level sync is all pro's than cons in XIV.
In XI, level syncing at a low level for extended periods of time made players not perform effectively at their normal level, and made them not know how to use the high level abilities. Huge Con.
XIV, on the other hand has no skill on weapons like xi did, and the abilities can be used at any level.
I think Level sync should be added as soon as possible. We would all benefit from it, and would allow casual and hardcore players to party together effectively.

SE Please Add Machinist As A Pet Job. Musketeer/Machinist = Puppetmaster With A Gun.
You assume "we would all benefit from it". You don't know that to be the case.
In XI, only the people who cared about leveling as fast as possible and little else benefitted from it. Others who still preferred the game as it was, had a much much more difficult time of partaking in activities that didn't involve sync'ing down up to 40+ levels and standing in the same spot for days on end.
You don't know how SE would implement such a system in XIV. You don't know how players would - most certainly - find a way to turn it into some new "OMG this is the new way to play XIV, 'cause the leveling is faster" one trick pony.
Good to see this topic got some life again. I, too, think Level Sync's pros far out-weigh the cons. Also, new players typically took a long time before they learned the effectiveness of lower level Level Sync camps. Typically people who knew about those camps already had 75+'s, or at least a higher level character. Yes, they would have lower skill levels when they got up, but you'll have bad players wherever you go. If they don't care enough about their job/class to keep skilled up, then they're just a bad player in general. Can't stop games from having bad players no matter what you do.
However, Level Sync did let me enjoy spending hundreds of hours playing with my friends on the job I wanted to play while they too were allowed. My PLD was already 75, but I was about to get merits by being able to spend time with my friends. How is that bad?

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
it would take them ages to figure out how to PROPERLY do level sync. With gear damage and the whole being able to wear mostly anything and custom stats, it would be a nightmare to balance for them. It was just pretty easy in FFXI when all of those things were static.
If any game needs it...this game does, the servers arent very full and most people are pretty anti-social outside of LSs (for many reasons) so you jind of have to play with friends or solo all the time.
I loved the idea behind level sync and I think it would be very helpful in this game as well. I don't think level sync ruined FFXI at all - it certainly made me return to the game for a long time after a lot of long breaks. It allowed me to stop having to save a job to level with my friends in a static group and allowed me to level whenever I wanted to, with whomever I wanted to, without worrying about difference in our levels.
We already have gear that can be worn at any level, so it would seem natural to me to allow us to sync down in rank here too. So many times someone in my ls will ask for 1-2 more people for a party and no one has any classes left in the correct range. Levels sync solves this.
I am tired of hearing how we can't have certain very fun features because they either might be abused by RMT or by a smaller group of players.
I completely disagree with level sync. I mean the intention is good, allow friends to finally play together, but it will ruin some of the intentions of the game. What I mean can be made clear by telling you about my return to FFXI after a few years to find the newly implemented level sync. What ended up happening was I leveled to cap and only experienced about 20% of the game. I never had to go to Kazham, I never had to go the Altepa Desert, and I never went anywhere.
I'm not saying that everyone will end up taking this shortcut... but we are human, and the urge to finish the game as quickly as possible will drive us to level sync our way to the top, ignoring the true intention of adventure that was meant to be in the game.
it's like the movie "click"
Yes, but just because you chose that route does not mean other players were forced to do the same. I loved using level sync but I only stayed in Qufim for a limited time. I LIKED going to the higher areas and fighting tougher mobs. It was just more fun for me and my friends because we liked the difficulty that new areas provided. Also, it would get extremely repetitive if we just stayed in the same area from 20-75. That wouldn't be fun at all. Hence why I didn't go back for Abyssea seeing the shortcut being used there. Not to mention the fact that Level Sync helped a ton whenever there weren't enough camps to go around.
Now, I think the main problem right now is that lower level players receive a substantial amount of SP, that of which is much higher than anyone 24+. They would need to re-balance the SP rates in order to prevent abuse of the system. Otherwise, people would be getting to 50 in no time.
There are obviously things they would need to look into in order to prevent abuse, but if they can figure it out it would be a great addition to the game. I feel so bad when newer players in our LS ask me to join their leve/xp party and I can't because I don't have anything under 20~ anymore.

People talk up level sync, about how it "helped low level parties". However, at the same time, it all but killed high level parties. Most players, the majority, easily... never touched high level areas after they realized they could just sync their way to 75 in Qufim.
This happened for two reasons:
1) People who only cared about getting xp as fast and easily as possible, immediately took to it, dropping everything else like a bad habit.
2) People who didn't want to do it, or at least not all the time, almost had no choice but to go along with it, 'cause putting together higher level parties became *extremely* difficult, even by XI standards.
I tried to "take the initiative" and form parties to go to other, more level-appropriate areas, because I got sick of looking at the same 2 or 3 places every single party... among other reasons. I could only occasionally get a group of people where everyone was interested, or at least open to the idea of leveling in different, more level appropriate areas... you know, like we used to. In most cases, at least 2-3 of the people insisted on level sync'ing in Qufim or some other low-level area (and with a PL, no less -eyeroll-), or they wouldn't join.
Level Sync was an example of SE having a good idea, and having their heart in the right place, but fumbling it on execution. I have no problem with a system that allows friends or siblings to play together when there are many levels between them. However, in XI, SE did not think or plan it through very thoroughly and ended up undermining a large portion of their own game.
If they do implement level sync'ing, then I seriously hope there are more restrictions and limitations on how much or how quickly one can progress while sync'd, else we're just gonna see the same abuse happen here. SE needs to maintain some kind of benefit to leveling on higher tier, level-appropriate mobs, to keep people from turning some lower level area in XIV into another Qufim Island.
People are quick to argue that the low-end game shouldn't suffer as people progress. This is true. But by the same token, the high level game shouldn't become all but redundant at the expense of the low level game either. That includes xp'ing in different areas, on different mobs, at all level ranges.
