Starlight Boxes, 2017.

So, a bit of backstory for this post: I’ve been playing FFXIV since October of 2017, and since then, I’ve had 10 Starlight Boxes in my retainer. I never knew I had to give them to an NPC, and actually thought you were supposed to put items in the gift boxes if you wanted to, and trade them to friends. It wasn't until recently that I searched it up and realized that I was supposed to give the items to an npc in exchange for event goodies. Is it possible that a GM can help with this? Or am I just supposed to, but hopefully not, discard them? Thanks!

The GMs will not assist in this situation, the event currency can only be used until the end of the event. The items may be available on the mogstation by now, but you'll have to pay cash for them at this point.

I already tried to look for the items, and no, they aren’t on the market board. They’re only accessible with the event items “Powdered Sugar”, not “Starlight Box”. And, again, I didn’t know back in 2017 that I had to give the items to an NPC. If I could trade them for Powdered Sugar, then that would be nice. But I don’t want to give the boxes up if there’s a possibility for them to be traded.

The mogstation is not the marketboard, it's the FFXIV cash shop that takes real money. Early event items were made so they could be traded on the marketboard, but once SE began really pushing the mogstation, they started making event items untradable.


If you absolutely need a response from actual SE staff however, in-game (because a staff response here is rare) go to System > Support Desk > Type "GM" in the bottom search box > Choose "How do I contact a Game Master?" > Click "File Report" > Fill out the form and click "Finish"

There is a small chance that they will become tradable when the event rolls around again.

Do not count on it.

you won't be able to do anything with those boxes. just discard them. they only gave out things like clear demimateria, allagan tin pieces, low quality stuff like that.
