SMN Quests are really difficult after changes

Titan was fine at holding aggro if you managed your DPS like you should for any tank.

You should never have to "manage your DPS". Kill. It. Faster. Do all the DPS. If you're dying first, you're not killing your target fast enough.

The content was made with titan-egi tanking in mind. And bane only spreading dots to 3-4 nearby enemies, and a lot of other things that are different now. Yeah titan would lose aggro but but it was enough for him to hold targets you weren't actively ruining, or at least distract them during your setup period.

They really need to either lower the amount of enemies in some of them, lower the damage or add a warrior npc to tank for you like the SCH job quests has. Actually you do have a warrior to tank for some but he's not part of the fights usually

I've done all SMN quests from level 30 to 70 with the new Titan-egi and I've had 0 problems, as well as other solo content with moderate/high difficulty.

As a squishy magical DPS you are not suposed to pick up 5 enemies and AoE them down, that was left in the past.

As someone leveling SMN right now, can I ask how you handled lvl 60 and 63 job quests? I managed to handle 60 by a good 20min of kiting the enemy around a boulder and DoTing him to death. This strategy may not work on this next one (nor is it enjoyable) so I’m wondering what you did in order to better improve my strategy

Since you aren't talking about anything specific, there are many factors that could make you struggle, like a bad rotation, low level gear, not dodging AoE, not doing mechanics etc...

What's your rotation like? What ilvl are you? What is killing you?

63's Ifrit-egi is honestly just "come back later" or grab a friend. He hits way too hard for what you have available at 63 gear wise and will kill you from his auto attacks alone unless you just kite him around in a giant circle ruin 2ing or something. Which is not something you should be forced to do.

This. Black mage I just kept in mostly 50's gear, did quests on level 50-62 and ignored regearing. Summoner is highly dependent upon gear (Titan's shield on HP% and overall damage) and now a well-built chocobo (something I've never bothered with) for those intermediate levels. Black mage also has Sleep which trivializes the class quests regardless of gear.

It’s just these specific SMN Job Quests. Ive had no problem elsewhere. Level 60 SMN quest “a book with bite” and 63 “performing for prin”
Same problem as everyone else has described. It seems the quests assume Titan to tank or hold aggro but he doesn’t.
