Its kinda funny, the issues with the headgear on Hrothgar are things I wondered and worried about with the Bangaa if we ever got them as a Playable Race. Not to mention the Lupin if THAT was ever gonna happen (Me and some friends humored the idea.)
So....Looking at the situation, other then some gear, head options were never gonna work, ever see a single Lupin in SB wearing headgear? Only other solution is...the devs will have to make new and unique headpieces.
I dont see most of the current headgear being able to fit the Hrothgar unless they literally go out of their way to redesign it, because the clipping, hovering, or not fitting and looking goofy problems will always persist.
And frankly, I do NOT see them going back and redesigning Hundreds of Head Pieces.

I can understand that armor bug, they just forgot that the game had a few of those fullplates which have their own helmet.

Its not always money and manpower, its also from a technical standpoint. Just because you want something or because X game had/has it, doesn't mean every game can or will have it. There are things that go into making and coding a game Im sure none of us understand, so sitting here acting like more money and more people will fix it is just wishful thinking and ignorance.
    No offense.
So you dont know either, heh.
You could at least bother reading some live letters and articles from Yoshi P. The one guy who worked on Chocobo races went to raiding, so we won't get any updates on that for a long time, if ever. They did head slots for Viera and Hrothgars while overworking, when they could switch that to another team. The bigger project - the more people need to handle it, that's common logic.

I totally agree with you OP. I'm positive this game alone is keeping that company raking in the moneyz, the least they could do is open up more positions and allocate more resources to propping this game up during it's golden era.

I know they're probably working on the next FF title or even next FF MMO, but this one is still being played and is at it's height. This is the worst time to not go all in. If they keep cutting corners due to resources, it WILL leave a very bad impression and people will NOT be interested in the next MMO / title that comes out.

Don't forget 1.0.... pour the resources in, finish the races, polish that content, and stop working your employees to exhaustion please!

Yup, the issues he raised all ultimately resolve to resources. He stated they cannot be simply solved by throwing more money or people at them but a lot of people are misconstruing that to mean that they don't amount to problems of that nature. Perhaps the translated statement was not worded too well, but those things he highlighted in section 1 are ultimately resource issues.

People either are not understanding what he is saying or are being disingenuous in using "This is a complex problem that can’t be solved simply by throwing more money or people at it, as it impacts both debugging and QA" to try infer that it is not a resource problem in its nature.

Ultimately as a consumer I am interested in the end product and not so much the excuses on why they can't do X, Y or Z, which I can't really verify. At the moment, I am enjoying the game but there are plenty of aspects to it that are less than ideal and in time those may lead me to re-evaluate if the game is worth my time, if they are not resolved.

In particular, lack of progress in regards to high res textures being the key issue for me.

But sometimes more resources ARE needed but which resources and where are the big concerns.

More money means little if there aren't more people to bring on to actually work on things. More people can greatly increase the number of features implemented.

HOWEVER, there are some things manpower and money won't fix. Anything that requires drastic alteration of base code is like that. After a point it would be just as much work to make a new game entirely.

Right now it seems to me that the FFXIV team needs more people so they can fully implement what they want to but some of the more squirrely aspects of the game may only ever be iterated on and never be fixed because of the base code (looking at you, inventory management).

there's also the issue of time too. they have a rigid schedule to keep with the patch update schedule and a new expansion on a 2 year cycle. i don't think any delay in that timeline will be acceptable to most people.

No, it isn't. Every software application in the world weighs out options for what implementations/additions is top priority. That's part of a healthy software lifecycle. More dev resources will likely make the problem even worse. More money and people to work on things should free up more time for them though right? Of course some stuff might still be cut but what remains and is released shouldn't be rushed or unfinished.
