I feel like this is one of the things that ends up holding them back when it comes to final Fantasy as a whole, and not just the MMO's (though the MMO's are a big part of this).

Despite having a global studio presence, including the former Square Soft office and Crystal Dynamics, they've kept their MMO teams and their major product lines as a Shibuya exclusive, and as they've publicly said, this makes it incredibly hard to find people with ANY experience.

Meanwhile, Blizzard, as an example, gets significantly more cross-production on its persistent games.

There is a GIANT wealth of MMO talent, from the writing side to the programming side, that dont speak Japanese (not surprisingly, its predominantly English, Korean and Chinese) that Squeenix has 0 ability to utilize.
