It more that gearing up tanks and healers later down the line deincentivizes doing the content as a healer/tank as part of a static. Not having the chance of getting any coffers before week 5 puts a serious damper on the desire of some to do savage content.
I'm a tank. Why would I want to loot for myself when it's more beneficial to have DPS get the loot first?
Again, raiding is a team effort.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

This is a pretty big misconception that keeps getting put out there. I can't stress enough how wrong it is for the overwhelming majority of cases.
My group is also prioritising drops for DPS. If they want a piece, I will not even greed on it. Them getting the gear = we get faster clears and start skipping annoying mechanics sooner. Most of the time I won't roll against the tanks as well.
Yet despite that, on week 4 I've gotten 3 Edengrace 470 pieces and the 470 tome weapon. I've not spent any other tomes or any of my books yet. My co-healer is sitting on 5 Edengrace 470 pieces.
The trick here is that we are prioritising BiS for the most part. DPS have a little wiggle room within reason but beyond that, if it's not your BiS it goes down the chain until someone pipes up. If the DPS are being greedy and hoovering gear that they are likely going to replace within a week or two then that's a group issue, not a loot system problem.
But yeah, this idea that healers will go without loot for a month or more is completely untrue.

as part of a static, your goal should be what benefits the team first.
Gross for PF pugs or those that just need 1 sub that ends up winning everything. They should lower the book cost for gear by 1-2 each imo.

Everyone could roll on everything in the old system too lol, it just wasn't as worth it to do. The trade off is you'd often have drops that mean nothing to you which is hardly fair either.
Name me the fair way to distribute loot in Savage, because I don't believe restricting rolls is it.

Old system is the precedent system, the anchor system to which the current will always inevitably be compared.old system old system old system.
im talking about the new one, can you focus on that please?
the old sytem was bad, we agreed on that, but the new one is not perfect by any means. my main and only issue is that if you clear the fight and 1 / 8 gets EVERYTHING its not fair for the other 7. by any measure thats not fair at all.
Your proposed system doesn't make it much better, you're still not likely to get an item out of Savage. You'd probably end up with loot stalemates like this as well, with people not rolling on item b until they determined whether they'd get item a or not because one otherwise can't control what drops first (and thus, what stays need or drops to greed first).

That's what pages are for. You're just upset you've gotten bad rolls.
