Idea for a better way to buy housing

The current system in place is absolutly atrocious. To even get a house you either A. have to camp a house for hours, or B hope you get lucky and snipe a house from someone who has been camping the house and makes them rage since they put so much time into trying to get that house only to lose it to someone who just so happend to come along at just the right time.

Here are some way better ways to deal with housing. First way is instead of the invisible timer is bidding for the house. This puts alot less time and rage on the people who get there first and the people sniping gets a chance to buy it too. Now the down side to this is that there are people out there who buy Gil with real money. There are ways to stop this. Set it to where you can receive X amount of Gill a day from trades. I could go more into this but that intire different issue, maybe ill make a different post.

Some will say if there is a bidding system wont the owner be able to set the starting bid. The starting price would be the standard price depending on the size or the location of the house.

Overall this system is so much better with a bidding system because it feels alot better to the players that participate in the purchasing of a house and people cant re-sell the house at absurd prices.

i will take lottery system over any timer or bidding any time any day
bidding favour veteran player, crafter and ppl who have bought gil with money, this mean new player will have minimum chance of getting a house
a lottery system is purely rng, anyone who can afford the minimum house price will have a chance

    Few flaws with your suggestion.

    1. "You can only get x gil every day through trades" won't stop RMTers, bots or people who already have Millions+. Most RMT (That I've noticed) goes through the Market Board or deliveries into Company Chests. That doesn't count as "trading".

    2. By removing the RNG timer, it is actively removing any chance that normal players could get the plot, let alone even SEE them open. With the Bidding system, people can easily stack the bid so high that only RMTers / Bots / Omni-crafters to have a shot, while leaving all the others in the dirt because they don't have enough gil to play. I believe that'd be more annoying than losing the house.

At least with the RNG timer, people have a chance. It's far from perfect, but it at least minimizes RMT / Bot purchases by limiting their capabilities to that of everyone elses, instead of simply being able to outright buy the plot the SECOND it becomes available.

Ontop of that, there are communities out there (especially on the NA datacenter!) that are reaching out to players trying to get housing to help them by reducing their camp-time or a channel-wide Ping when plots in <insert ward here> go vacant. You just have to poke your head out and look about.

And before people cherry-pick this post (Because it seems like a real big issue on this forum), please read it in its entirety this time.

You're fairly naive about RMT if you think the gil exchange is happening through the trade window in the first place. The gil limit per trade is too small. RMT gil exchange happens through the marketboard where hundreds of millions of gil can change hands in a single transaction.

No, a bidding system isn't better. Any player who can afford the set price for a plot should have the same chance as any other player at purchasing it. A bidding system will place all newly available housing into the hands of the wealthiest players who already own multiple plots using multiple alts set up in multiple shell FCs. You've taken the chance to own away from the vast majority of the player base by turning it into a bidding war.

Players can still resell the house at absurd prices if they purchase the house for a FC then sell the FC to a player who wants that house. Your system does not prevent such abuse.

Not only is it happening with game gil, accounts with real money trading like PayPal are used to purchase houses, gear, items.
