    PS4 Controller Issues

    Hello, I am a Windows 10 [PC] Player using a PS4 controller. I use a USB wire to have my PS4 controller work in FFXIV. I don't use 3rd-Party software, nor ever plan to. (Please don't tell me to use/buy a Xbox controller, unless you are going to give a brand new fully functional one to me, for free.)

    I have been playing this way for many years, and recently I have recently encountered "wondering" since the latest patch.

    My character would either walk/run or the camera would move all on their own. Or if I barely press the analog stick, that will happen as well.

    I have changed my USB wire, changed to all of my USB ports (2.0 to 3.0), even purchased a brand new PS4 controller.

    My game settings are on Game Pad. I am not pressing "auto-run".

    I would ignore this issue, but it seems to get worse when I am doing content.

    Does this issue occur if you are using just a mouse and keyboard? If not, it may have to do with the analog stick sensitivity. Go to System Settings, then Gamepad Settings. You should find an option for 'Analog Stick Sensitivity'. If this is at 0, try raising it to 5 or 10.

    There is indeed some issue going on, as much as others seem to want to deny it. It has been happening since Shadowbringers launch. It seemed like it had calmed down some over the past few weeks but I had several spouts last night during raid.

    Either the camera or character movement will "stick" and continue travelling after input has been released. But I've also had it seem to not recognize inputs for a few seconds too, so they could be related phenomenon. Happened with the previous controller I was using, and purchased a new one shortly after ShB launch and still had the same problem occur. USB Wired for both.

    Mouse/Keyboard: Personally I only use the keyboard for typing in chat, but I do often use the mouse for running around and doing tasks. No issue with mouse.

    Just out of interest - do you use that Xbox game pass for PC?

    I'm having the exact same controller issues on DS4 and Xbox One controller.

    I've seen the issue mentioned numerous times and it never gets resolved the topic just gets closed off......

    I've tried disabling the Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator in Device Manager to no avail.

    When the controller glitches out my device manager refreshes at the same time.

    Only reason I'm asking about Xbox Game Pass is I noticed some disk errors in my event logs that coincided with the timing of the controller glitch. These disk errors are tied to these devices called 'Xvd' under my disk drives in device manager. There is one Xvd for every game I've installed on Game Pass.

    I'm trying out uninstalling all these game pass games to see if that fixes the problem - will report back if it works.

    Uninstalling the Game Pass games seems to have fixed it for me. I've been running Eden Savage the last couple hours without any problems.

    The exact error I was getting before in Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System:
    Disk 4(-9) has been surprise removed.

    Maybe these do a check for updates and have to remount the Xvd devices, causing the Device Manager to refresh.

    I do not use a mouse/keyboard due to my hands. So using a controller is the only option for me to play.

    I have changed my analog settings, and I even re-calibrated my new controller. I still have this issue.

    I would use a mouse/keyboard but I have hand issues, which is why I use a controller... But I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with this issue!
