Not only is it happening with game gil, accounts with real money trading like PayPal are used to purchase houses, gear, items. You're fairly naive about RMT if you think the gil exchange is happening through the trade window in the first place. The gil limit per trade is too small. RMT gil exchange happens through the marketboard where hundreds of millions of gil can change hands in a single transaction.
No, a bidding system isn't better. Any player who can afford the set price for a plot should have the same chance as any other player at purchasing it. A bidding system will place all newly available housing into the hands of the wealthiest players who already own multiple plots using multiple alts set up in multiple shell FCs. You've taken the chance to own away from the vast majority of the player base by turning it into a bidding war.
Players can still resell the house at absurd prices if they purchase the house for a FC then sell the FC to a player who wants that house. Your system does not prevent such abuse.
"Fanboy is gaming jargon used to describe an individual that has gone beyond the point of being a PC or console game fan and, during online chats or discussions, shifts to defend the program at all costs, unable to take any criticism or acknowledge any shortcomings of the game or gaming console."
