But you're throwing salt on the earth, not on your target! How is throwing salt at someone supposed to hurt them? It certainly won't hurt them as much as the disgust they will feel from seeing you make that patch of ground indefinitely incapable of growing crops, you immoral dastards, you!

Honestly I macro'd Salted earth to drop at my feet, I found it far more manageable as I can simply drop it and pull mobs in than the awkward target macro.

Also if they decide to do anything with Salted earth, I still say they should add some defensive buffs to it. Like standing in Salted Earth decreases damage taken for everyone, or the damage it deals returns as health to the DRk. Anything would be better than having it be a very small to average DPS increase.

I use the <t> macro for salted earth. It can be an ass to double weave but I dont mind. It takes more mental time to deal with placement than double weaving an ogcd macro for me. I'd rather just fire and forget.

Its ogcd so it wont lose you dps unless you weave late and has a long cooldown so you dont need to weave it that often. Just single weave it.

Just to add to the macro suggestion for OP.

Repeat the <t> lines over and over. This creates a sort of Psuedo Queue based on your FPS. You can press it just before your GCD finishes and it will still go off in most cases, almost as if it was actually queued up like a normal skill.

I have a similar macro for my Salted Earth except I have half of them set to have me at the target for those pesky mobs like Ozma that can't be targeted like that for some reason.

Yeah the macro is very clunky and far from ideal, better to just fix the root cause.

I don't know how Freeze works (don't play BLM yet). But I do feel like Salted Earth could use some targeting QoL improvements. What I'd really like to see:

Hitting the hotkey for the ability brings up the AoE marker, and it's automatically centered on your current target (if any; if you don't have anything targeted, it's just centered on your mouse pointer). Hitting the hotkey again casts the spell. So you could just doubletap your hotkey to cast it centered on your target. Or, if you wanted finer placement, hit the hotkey once, place it with your mouse, hit the hotkey again.

Unless there's something I'm missing, I hate that I have to use left click to drop the AoE.

That sounds infinately worse in every way. Having to hit the hotkey twice? So much for weaving it in during boss-fights lol.

Also, it'd make clickers lives 100 times harder if they dont use hotkeys.

(Ignore the levels on my character card, the tool i used to make it hasn't been updated for 4.0)

Basically they made Freeze work like how Abyssal Drain works. So it hits a target and every enemy in a radius centered on that target.

Salted Earth being manually ground targetted allows to place it on a spot which overlaps current boss' position as well as where it's gonna move next. It might not be that important this tier(I don't raid on DRK right now so just guessing), but in Alphascape there were several moments in fights when it was a very useful perk, due to the cd lining up with repositioning the boss.
The current cd, damage and duration makes losing ticks/casts less likely and wasteful I suppose, but I'd rather they brought the skill back to it's original uptime and power, while leaving targetting as is - planning the optimal placement was part of the fun imo.
