Reinstalling on Windows 7

I've reinstalled this game 5 different times and keep getting this



I have followed the directions that my boyfriend found on the forums to fix the issue, we have copied the boot file from his computer to a flash drive to my computer and i still get this message. We can't seem to fix this problem and since we paid for my subscription over a week ago and I've not been able to play at all, this is getting extremely frustrating for us.

Have any updates or changes been made to the PC? Where in game does the crash occur? Does the crash happen when the game is first launched? Or does it happen when you are in the middle of playing? Could you also provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

It happens after logging in and clicking the green Play button. I had to reinstall the game and everything else on my PC after it crashed and we had to upgrade some parts (such as hard drive and power supply). And I'll try to do a system report, I've never done one on any game and I'm still learning the ins and outs of PC gaming from my bf ^^;

It looks like your graphics card drivers are a bit out of date. I'd recommend doing a clean install of the most up-to-date versions, if you haven't done so already.

It also looks like you have Geforce Experience open. try disabling this overlay while playing the game.

Thanks. I've actually been trying to download the GeForce graphic card driver thingy, but my computer hasn't been letting me download that either. *sigh* suppose i gotta get ahold of GeForce for that problem tho. My bf and I will work on that problem this evening and I'll let you know if that fixes the FFXIV problem once we get that fixed

ok. got GeForce working and Driver updated... FFXIV still is coming up with that same message. Do I have to uninstall/reinstall it again?

To change compatibility mode, right click on the exe file (Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivboot.exe), right click it and select ‘Properties.’ Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select Windows 7. Please make sure all background programs are disabled as well.

When the crash happens do you have any programs running in the background? Also, please also make sure all overlays are disabled. When the crash happens is anything overheating? Do you have a way to check the temperatures?
