Have you tried filtering out unnecesary junk text from your chat log? do you even have the proper text log enabled that shows ifrits hellfire?

You are the only player I have heard claim that an enemies weapon skill animated before the chat log shows it.

I find this hard to believe that is all. There must be a reason.
His weaponskills are the only things that show in my battle log, i have one for WS stuff and another for enemy casting used on seperate mob types obviously. Its also NOT hellfire, its the eruptions. Hellfire is on a simple and predictable timer, push come to shove you could count in your head and hit sentinel 10 seconds early and be fine, same with sanguine rite and so on. Eruptions are the issue. Not knowing when hellfire is due would be player error if someone has been told about its timer.

    Was this hellfire, plume, or?

Someone posted a video awhile back showing his movements and what his party members saw. I do not have this issue myself, but I understand there are others that do. I do not believe these mechanics should be all together eliminated. However, I believe there should be a longer build up to these actions and specifically related to eruptions a smaller collision detection radius until 2.0.

    Heh Eruptions are tricky though.

Let it be known, dodging eruptions has nothing to do with player positioning at the time of the actual eruption.

There is a hidden counter that times down the moment the cracks appear on the ground/text in log. There is a second hiden timer that determines when to make the cracks erupt/deal damage.

The first timer determines wether or not a player will take damage based upon his/her positioning on or off the eruption. The second timer determines when the damage is dealt.

This can be proven by the fact that if you run away from the eruption in time to avoid the first timer, you can run right back onto the cracks before the visual explosion/damage is done and you wont take any damage.

As for hellfire, what i mentioned above should prove trustworthy. Even if he goes off before chatlog apears. You should know when hellfire will happen because the infernal nails go up 1 min before hellfire goes off. So just take a look at your time remaining, do the math, and pop SS+sent in time.

About vale/cry I don't know what to say other than what's been said. I really didn't know some people experienced a problem wherin the weaponskill would appear before chatlog. I am inclined to think this has to do with chatlog clogged up full of spam. I have seperate window for battlelog and I filter anything that isn't necesary and have no problem on my laptop as long as i turn down ffxiv config settings.

    Hope this helps.

And when eruptions show up neither on screen nor in log before you can avoid its okay? its not about trickyness, or player ineptess to move in time, its about not being afforded the oppurtunity to do so, even if where i'm sitting i move in plenty of time. lots of people run well in time it just doesn't get processed by the servers. you've never seen someone slide across the floor dead? this is when that occurs.

Edit to keep on topic: some of the mobs they are adding have this same issue, coincounters 100tonze as an example.

Another option is to go the route of some other MMOs and have the position damage be more of a damage over time effect. This way, when you see your character being damaged you know when to move. Perhaps something like eruption lasts 5 seconds, takes 1000ish damage per second? Idk I really do feel the current mechanics are not well suited to the current structure and should be adjusted sooner rather than later.

What are your desktop FFXIV config launcher graphics settings at?

Low and playable, it isn't a high spec system to be sure but its functionally functional. It isn't just me though, my brother uses a great system that looks almost realistic and has the same issue at times, especially on coincounter as his slugs come out. inb4 "you probly have a bad ISP" lots of people who aren't on my ISP also have the issue, so ISP aside, computer power/settings aside, this problem will persist for many. I do appreciate that you want to help, though.

heh I don't know much about ISP, just trying to relate based upon my own experience.

Again, I don't have much experience with coincounter so i'll bite my tongue, but the reason i bring up the out of game config launcher settings is because that was my main problem playing on a laptop. When i first started Ifrit i would die like the biggest failnoob cus i couldnt dodge a plume or an eruption until i turned down my graphics settings to low (srsly low like 1 or 2) - so low i could barely read my own name above my character, but it worked wonderfuly to remove ifrit lag.

edit: i can't stress enough the OUT OF GAME part. there are configurations under the ingame menu, but there is an off line launcher called "ffxiv config" that has a primary graphics control panel under "general" tab. The in game settings are worthless compared to out of game launcher inregards lag reduction.

anyway, I hope the rest goes well for you.
