Then that, sir, is a sign of higher latency on your end and is likely due to your connection. Lag spikes, high ping, etc. These are all contributing factors and are unique to every player at any given time. Unfortunately, this is something SE has no control over.

Sure, the lag spikes and higher ping on your end on top of the already noticeable server lag is horrible, but even when they bust out 2.0 and server lag isn't noticeable, you'll still be lagging more than everybody else.

... or your internet is fine and you just don't know where to run

PS: It's not some blanket statement. It's logic. You determine what the problem is, why it is a problem, and how this problem works. In the case of FFXIV, the chatlog communicates significantly faster than any and all animations- this is why you'll see your attacks in the logs, your target's HP go down and even die before your WS animation comes out. Move based on the log, and you're golden. If following that guidelines has led to consistent dodging for me and everyone I've had the pleasure to play with, then yes- it works for everyone who's sole problem is the generic server lag.

To say i'm the only one with horrible latency issues would be a gross error. i still manage to finish these fights most times, even if i can be a hindrance (to be fair you could kill ifrit with 5 or 6 just a little slower) at times. if it were just a small isolated group of people that get hosed in these fights it'd be one thing, and less worthy of posting about .... i suppose... but it happens to ALOT of people, and has been a major issue for a long time. with the stronger, one-shotty type mobs that are springing up more often its actually a problem now. your stuff processes slowly in most situations and its np.... it goes slowly when you're gonna die if you don't move... OUCH! i don't want to see content limited to only the people who don't have these problems, that's what worries me.

To say that everyone knows to use the chatlog, is effective at using the chatlog, is overall competent, and/or is not greedy with squeezing in another attack would be a gross error.

I can't presume to know why people still fall for these attacks on a case-to-case basis, but I do know a couple of things:

1: Very strong boss attacks tend to have sufficiently long and clear charge-ups.
2: Using the chatlog works 100% as it is to dodge these skills. Failure to dodge despite this is due to a different reason.

I'm not saying the server lag is fine. It sucks. Just saying there's a consistent way around it if people need help.

Using the chatlog does NOT work 100%, apparently you'll never believe that, though. I must be an awful player lmao

About two weeks back I ran Ifrit for the first time with my LS, along with 5 other people new to the fight. We had a good teacher in our LS that taught us when to move, where to stand, how to read the chat log/ifrit's animations... Granted we didn't get a win out of the 3 tries we did, we did get him to ~10%! That being said the chat log helps, but it certainly isn't 100% fool proof, sometimes text would come a few seconds after the actual skill happened.

Or you can stack your HP to 5000+ then you won't get one shot. I lived through 3x 4700 hit in a row tank it lazy style (5020 HP with Omelet). Really, this is the easiest fight in the patch if you stack HP like that.

In over a hundred attempts at Ifrit I have never seen chatlog weaponskill texts appear AFTER the skill itself.

Noctis is right about the chatlog being 100% foolproof, but that doesn't man you will dodge 100% of the time by simply looking at the chatlog. The chatlog is 100% insofar as displaying the enemies actions before they visually appear - but dodging those attacks depends 100% on the player observing that chatlog.

If you notice the skill 1 second too late you wont have the time to react in time to dodge it. What's easy about Ifrit's hellfire is the fact that the infernal nails appear on the board 55 seconds aprox before ifrit jumps in the center of the ring and readies hellfire. Essentially you are given a 1min heads up that cannot be missed.

As for 100 tonze swipe and swing ii don't think there is a one minute hint so you really have to be on the ball about watching that chat log. Furthermore, if you do indeed need to run towards for one and away for the other, positioning is key.

If all else fails, lower your graphic settings under the desktop FFXIV Configurations launcher.

Chatlog is not foolproof..... why do people refuse to believe, just because it works for you? As a side note, i doubt there are many who haven't done 100 ifrits or more, most groups (even pick-ups) do 10-12 ifrits. Its easier to blame human error just because.... idky. Same as to the other guy, i'm glad its 100% foolproof for you, but it isn't for everyone.

Well my hundred+ ifrits were mostly done in pick up groups, and yeah it took a couple weeks buuuuuut...

Have you tried filtering out unnecesary junk text from your chat log? do you even have the proper text log enabled that shows ifrits hellfire?

You are the only player I have heard claim that an enemies weapon skill animated before the chat log shows it.

I find this hard to believe that is all. There must be a reason.

Actually I was the one who said it, and yes, aside from /ts and party chat, I only have it to show Ifrit's skills. Other members of the party had the same thing happen to them, so I don't know what to tell you.
