    Unable to Update Patch Files

Hi all, so on trying to install the trial of the game on (win7 x64) I get this error:
"Unable to update patch files. [11005][20815][20866][19900][5]"

To date, I've tried: reinstalling the program, rebooting, VPN, different computer... some other stuff I can't remember. Any suggestions?

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The error you are describing is error that occurs when there is an issue between the network and the game. How long have you been experiencing this issue? Are you using wifi or are you connected to the router directly?

I have a friend going through this same exact issue and we have not been able to resolve this. They did many of the things the original poster listed, as well as attempting this on wifi and wired directly into the router. It began for them as soon as they purchased ShadowBringers and the files were not able to update. Their patch files are different though, [30413] [25008][20495]

Rivix, thank you for the reply.

Could your friend make sure that the Final Fantasy XIV application is allowed through the firewall? As the game launcher uses Internet explorer, please try the following:

Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

First, thank you for your reply and suggestions.

I had my friend try the entire list of suggestions you made and still nothing. The patches load about 60% of the way through then just error out with the same codes. They are quite upset that they haven't been able to play for over a week now and they have money invested in the game to play. Are there any direct downloads or mirror sites that are offered to download these patches directly?

Here is what my friend has tried:
"I have tried everything from new hardware, opened all the ports in the firewall settings, cable connection, non-cable connection, reinstall, opened settings in IE, VPN connection, reset settings in the launcher, run as admin, not running as admin, edited the boot doc in notepad. I've sent in a ticket to tech support and haven't heard from them in days."

ShadowBringers was purchased on 8/19/2019. Before this date, they were able to play Stormblood with no issues and had no connections or log in concerns. Upon purchasing ShadowBringers, they stopped being able to log in because of the inability to download the patches and download the game properly. No changes were made to their network before or after the purchasing of ShadowBringers.

This method worked for me. To the friend of Rivix, make sure you do every single thing on that list, step by step.

    Friend of Rivix Here

I've tried everything in that list. Isolated each step in the list, and also tried all of those steps together. Is there another way to download the files outside of the launcher? Stormblood downloaded with no problem it is just Shadowbringers which is absolutely falling over,

As a Steam user and bought a steam version of the game, the recent update is making me suffer to play the game.
I've played 4 hours ago, I had to uninstall everything and install again everything from scratch to be able to play.

    Now I'm getting this error:
