    Ninja Redesign 2.0 Shadowbringer Edition

    With the Ninja getting soon an overwork, I wanted to post before of that my concept here, how I'd like this class to be and how it should work in regard of skills n traits as also mechanics.

    First the mechanics:

    I think Huton as a mechanic should be replaced, it doest fit to Ninjas to manage every 70 seconds a buff effect, especially when by now two simple skill rotations keep it up nearly endless, if you are constantly fighting something to let it not run out of time.

    The mechanic should be changed to Chakra, it is a Ninja's form of unique body energy, that is used to perform Mudras with that can be formed Ninjutsus then.

    Ninjas have a maximum of 100% Chakra, each performed Ninjutsu will cost now Chakra in regard of how powerful the Ninjutsu is differently much of that.
    Currently we have only 3 Mudras, I find that number too low and raise it up to 5:

    - Ten > Blue
    - Chi > Red
    - Jin > Yellow
    - Han (New) > Green
    - Roh (New) > Purple

    Mudra Skills will be changed, giving the Ninja a bigger Arsesal of Skills

    1 Mudra Skills:

    Ten: Fuuma-Shuriken, when performed with over 50% Chakra left then: Fuuton: Rasen Shuriken
    Thow a big shuriken at your target, dealing damage to all foes in line of sight. As Rasen Shuriken, hit targets suffer also on a Bleeding over time for 15s and the hit on the main target causes a shreddering windstorm explosion dealing additional AoE Damage, which sucks nearby foes to the spot of the main target.

    Chi: Smoke Screen, when performed with over 50% Chara left then: Suiton: Yasui Kirigakure
    Throw a Smoke Grenade that deals damage, can interrupt enemy attacks and blinds them as long they stand in the smoke that is up for 10s. As Yasui Kirigakure, you create instead a big thick mist at the smoke grenades location, which allows you to be hidden inside of it,so you cant be targeted, and you can use skills freely for that you need to be hidden.

    Jin: Death Blossom, when performed with over 50% Chakra left: Raiton: Chidori Senbon
    Thow alot of Kunais around yourself to hit all nearby targets to deal damage to them. As Chidori Senbon, you deal more damage from the attack ignores 25% of the enemy defense and the enemies attack value gets decreased for 5 seconds by 15%

    Han: Shadowrunner (Shukuchi), when performed with over 50% Chakra left then Doton: Hokori Kage Bunshin
    You move quick as a shadow to your chosen ground target and deal damage to nearby targets. As Hokori Kage Bunshin do you summon a Shadow Doppelganger of yourself out from the whirled up dust, which assaults the target additionally from behind dealing a guaranteed critical hit

    Roh: Power Seal, when performed with over 50% Chakra left then Katon: Fuin Bakahatsu > Fuin Kai
    You use a seal to stop the powers of an enemy, causing it t get magic spells interrupted and to get binded and slowed, decreasing the attack speed and how fast skills are performed by adding 2 seconds to the activation times. As Fuin Bakahatsu, you let the seal cause a big explosion to turn practically the enemy into a living bomb which gets more powerful, so longer the seal lasted. The Skill turns into Fuin Kai if you want it to detonate sooner, after having used Fuin Bakahatsu on a target.

    2 Mudras Skills

    Ten Chi or Chi Ten: Fuuton: Yoroi Arashi
    You perform a Wind Jutsu that supports your and nearby allies by boosting up your movement and attack speed up for Auto Attacks by 20% for 15s, while received damage gets reflected back by 1/8th of the received damage. So 8000 Damage mean 1000 Damage reflected back to the enemy.

    Ten Jin or Jin Ten: Hyouton: Tsubame Fubuki
    You shoot out a swarm of homing in ice swallows, which deal multiple hits to either a target or they hit multiple foes in a cone in front of you until every swallow hit something.

    Chi Jin or Jin Chi: Mokuton: Seikatsu no Tsurii
    You let a tree of life grow near your position, which regenerates over time health for 10 seconds each two seconds and removes negative conditions like poison, paralyze, petrification, freeze or bleedings.

    Han Ten or Ten Han: Raiton: Doshaburi Raisen
    You create at your target spot a thunderstorm cloud that lets rain lightnings over time causing damage over time to targets in it's arena of effect range. These lightnings can paralyze enemies eventually too.

    Han Chi or Chi Han: Doton: Ryuusa Torappu
    You create a trap of deadly quicksand at your location that deals damage over time and slows the enemy movement speed while inside of it by 90%. Its basically the current Doton just made a bit more interesting

    Han Jin or Jin Han: Katon: Goka Mekkyaku
    You shot a huge fireball at your targets to deal damage. Leaves at the enemy spot a burning firefield that continues to deal damaga via Burning condition if foes stand longer than 3 seconds in the burning fire field

    Han Roh or Roh Han: Hyouton: Hyosho Ranryu
    Throw freezing cold shurikens at your targets soaring through the air like flying snow dragons, causing hit targets to freeze on spot, unable to move for a short moment of time.

    Ten Roh or Roh Ten: Suiton: Ame San
    You spray with your breath an acid rain towards your target, which will cause damage to hit targets in the cone of your breath and enemies will have temporarely reduced defense against physical attacks. You are 10% more likely also to hit them critically too.

    Chi Roh or Roh Chi: Doton: Maisoo no Tsumi
    Let a huge rock crush on your target to deal damage, deals more damage so lower your health is. Has a chance to petrify weak targets that aren't immune to petrification. Petrified enemies can be instant killed with critical hits.

    Jin Roh or Roh Jin: Fuuton: Kuchiose Kamaitachi
    You summon a Wind Weasel that slices through the air with its sharp sicle claws, dealing Bleedings to foes that suffer damage, whenever they perform an action, like an auto attack or using a skill/spell as long they bleed for 15s

    Lastly 3 Mudras Skills


    Ten Chi Jin or Jin Chi Ten: Ninpou: Yume Anata no Mono Yume
    You create a Shadow Doppelganger of yourself for 20 seconds, which while it is up copies all of your actions and reduces basically like Shadow Shift your received damage as the doppelganger soaks some of the received damage up. Its basically merging Shadow Shift and the doppelganger skill under the skill name "Dream of your Dreams" together. Trying here to translate into a japanese sounding name, correct me if its wrong, have only lousy google knowledge lol ^^

    Chi Ten Jin or Chi Jin Ten: Ninpou: Koutai
    The next attack that will hit you that is no Wipe Attack, will miss you as your body gets in the moment the attack hits replaced with a tree block, and you safely teleport away backwards.

    Ten Chi Han: Ninpou: Hageshiku Buki
    You take out your summon ninja scroll to summon one of your 4 special Ninja Weapons randomly, which is either a Kusarigama, a Naginata, two Sais or the famous Ninja Sword - Kusanagi which is the rarest but most powerful option, which change temporarely your weapon skills based on your Ninja Weapon, except the Sais, they just add effects to the Dagger based Weapon Skills

    Rest is up to SE to come up with ideas

    The point of adding mor Mudras is basically to remove Ninki completely, merge those few skills into the Mudra System and make the class with it more versatile

    What are Han and Roh supposed to represent. Do they fit with the Ten Chi Jin motif they currently have. We know there is a legendary 4th Mudra, but we don't know it's name. Most likely its 霊 (Rei) for soul.

    I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

    Han and Roh are basically, this, removed the part earlier, thought it could be confusing:

    Ten > Sky
    Chi > Ground
    Jin > Man
    Han > Spirit
    Roh > Shadow

    Dont know the ninja ff14 lore, so if there is a Rei, for Soul, then it can naturally replace one of the two, or become together with them a final 6th Mudra as is rinkudo, the sixth paths based from the anime Naruto, as the whole class design heavily got inspired by that when you look at the many similarities ^^ Nor am I Japanese, so don't know if the terms fit to the words, just taken for sounding nice as 3-letter words like the others

    My concept put also few normal skills into the Mudra System, next posting is a more overviewable Skill List to see what comes when.


    @ Darkstride Thats is why I propose in my Monk Concept to rename this term for Monks into Chi Flow basically, so that there can't be confusion between both classes.

    Monk already uses Chakra, I wouldn't duplicate that into Ninja.

    Moved up from 15 to Lvl4 as Shade Shift gets merged into Mudra Skill Ninpou: Yume Ananta no Mono Yume

    Level 10:
    Mug, gains now the Ability to restore Chakra and is merged with the Chakra Role Skill, so Mug heals now, restores Chakra and deals damage, eventually lesser than before.
    Moved up from 15 to 10, Hide gets merged into Mudra System with Suiton: Yasui Kirigakure

    Level 15:
    Assault, renamed Trick Attack
    Moved up from 18 to Lvl 15

    Level 18:
    Aeolian Edge, renamed Bloody Blade, effect changed: Deals Damage, more from the rear, and if attacking from behind, you regain a bit Chakra
    Moved up from 26 to Level 18. Chakra Regain comes later added when you are a Ninja, before of that point does the skill stay as Aeolian Edge

    Level 26:
    Jugulate, deals damage and can interrupt magic spells before they happen, so if you use this and the enemy tries to cast something interruptable within 5s, it gets automatically interrupted.
    Moved up from 30 to 26 and brought back to PvE.

    Level 30:
    Ninjutsu/ Ten

    Level 35
    Chi

    Level 38
    Shadow Fang/ Jin
    Jin Moved up from 45 to Level 38, Death Blossom removed and merged into Mudra System as Jin's 1 Mudra Skill, that is with over 50% Chakra Raiton: Chidori Senbon

    Level 40
    Assasinate
    Moved up from 60 to Level 40 to replace the merged and renamed Shukuchi (Shadowrunner) into Han's 1 Mudra Skill, that is with over 50% Chakra Doton: Hokori Kage Bunshin

    Level 45
    Han

    Level 50
    Roh/ Kassatsu

    Level 52
    Hakke Mujinsatsu, gains additional feature of icreased potency when performed in an Ninjutsu AoE effect. Recovers now Chakra a bit.

    Level 54
    Armor Crush, effect changed, due to Huton not existing in this concept as mechanic anymore, Armor Crush does now what it is called like, it reduces the enemy defense for physical attacks, but not as effective as like Suiton : Ame San, therefore cost no Chakra
    Turns together with Spinning Edge and Gush Slash into a Combo Skill, freeing up the Skill Bar of two Slots.

    Level 56
    Dream Within a Dream, renamed, as the term is used now for the 3 Mudras Skill Ninpou: Yume Ananta no Mono Yume in Japanese to make the name fit the theme of this Class to be close to japanese culture, same like Samurai
    This Skill does still deal 3 quick hits to a target, but is renamed to "Mirror Slice"

    Level 58
    Shadow Edge/ Gale Slash/ Demon Blade/ Death Thrust
    Upgrades for the Skills Spinning Edge, Gust Slash, Bloody Blade and Armor Crush in that order
    Shadow Blade gets a time frame added to auto avoid auto attacks.
    Gale Slash hits now more targets near to the main target, or twice if it is a single target.
    Demon Blade deals more Rear Damage now and lets a next used Ninjutsu cost 10% lesser Chakra
    Death Thrust deal more damage against vulnerable foes with decreased defense, and heals now if you kill foes with it.

    Level 62
    Kuchiose Makigai Joou ( Summon Snail Queen), replaced Hellfrog Medium that got merged in Mudra System
    The summoned Snail Queen shoots slimy puddles that slow down enemies and damage them, while allies get healed a bit by those and lose conditions like poison, slow, sickness ect.

    Level 68
    New Skill
    Duality, brought back with new effect: Bind yourself to an ally, like Dancers or Dragoons do too, but with Duality you gain Chakra if your ally deals damage, if you deal damage, you support the gameplay mechanic of your ally, like creating Heat/Energy, or creating Chi for Monks, Kenki-Points for Samurai, let casters regain MP, ect.

    Level 70
    Ten Chi Jin, renamed to Mudra Memory, effect changed, you can perform two 3 Mudra skills directly, now also while moving. They cost 30% lesser Chakra and you dont have to usy any Mudras, just press Ninjutsu and a random 3 Mudra Skill will be used.

    Chakra really isn't a Rogue/Ninja concept in general, though. It fits much better with Monk.

    You've already stated that you don't know Ninja lore. Ninjutsu is Doman magic with different elemental alignments than what is used in Eorzea. They perform hand motions (mudra) to align with each element (Earth, Sky, Man) to manipulate aether into spells. There is a "lost" 4th Mudra, but otherwise the ninjutsu magic consists of only those 3 elements. Likewise, you can't just add more Mudra, but we did get "new" Ninjutsu from Kassatsu empowering our existing magic.

    Increases the chance significantly that mugged enemies drop loot now. Adds the Effect that Mug restores Chakra.

    Improved Jugulate - This Skill can now be charged two times and has an increase time to auto interrupt spells from 5 seconds to now 8 seconds. enemies also suffer now damage if Jugulate succesfully cancels a spell attack of an enemy.

    Level 76
    Improved Kassatsu -Activating Kassatsu turns any 1 Mudra Skill immediately into a random 2 Mudra Skill for the cost of a 1 Mudra Skills Chakra Costs.

    Level 78
    Shukiho 2, replaced with now Healthy Chakra
    Increases the maximum Chakra your body can store from 100 to 150 and you get healed when your Chakra reaches Maximum (5% of Max Health).Slightly increases also the Chakra gain from using Weapon Skills.

    If this is too deeply anchored into lore, then its no problem at all and the term stays simply with Ninki, if that needs to be so.
    I just think only Chakra belongs more to Ninja, not Monks, but thats maybe because my concept is stronger influenced and inspired by Naruto, than the current Ninja is from SE.

    The bigger problem for my concept might be, if the ninja lore by the devs completely forever rules out the existance of any more Mudras than maximum 4, because then I'd have to change my concept based on that fact that the gameplay of the class can be designed around only 4 Mudras.
    I would need to change the Mudra Formulas ^^

    Yeah without knowing what they are supposed to be it was a little confusing. While stating Ten as Sky isnt "inaccurate" it's supposed to be Heaven, and Chi is Earth; it's the whole juxtaposition of the two, do would be ground. Rei would be your spirit/soul. And Kage is Shadow, and unfortunately there is no 3 "letter" transliteration. Han on the other hand means half.

    If they give NIN the legendary 4th Mudra WoL is gonna be strong as hell considering we’ve seen it in action(Lv 50 Job Duty). However they want to reduce the GCD bloat NIN has because there’s too much crap to do and it creates a bungled mess if you miss a step.
