how would you feel about a diablo style rift system usable with your trust

so for those who haven't play Diablo 3, the "endgame" is called the Rifts. the general idea is that you are on a randomly generated map and you run around killing mobs in order to fill up a progression bar.

once the progression bar is filled a boss is spawned. after you kill it (if you kill it) you get loot.

obviously the higher rift you go the harder the mobs hit and the more HP they have.

wondering if something like this would be interesting for FFXIV. especially with the addition of the trust system.

    1) Designing any content that's specifically meant for trusts/solo is a bad idea imo, because this is an mmo. Trusts are just there so that you can get through story dungeons when there's no one else for you to do them with and wasting resources to develop content for them is silly.

    2) Trusts themselves would work terribly with rifts-style content, because it's all about killing giant zergs of mobs. Trusts don't aoe and their ai goes completely potato when it comes to dodging aoes from big pulls, they wouldn't just be useless in rifts, they wouldn't even survive them.

    3) FFXIV's combat system makes fighting mobs extremely boring. Where XIV shines is boss fights with lots of mechanics and the only content which made mobs somewhat engaging was Deep Dungeons(upper levels only) and that's because they actually have mechanics which you need to react to and that wouldn't work with giant masses of enemies.

More procedurally generated group content outside of Deep Dungeons could be nice, but it would have to at least take the same approach to monsters as the highest levels of HoH/PotD and probably sprinkle in more bosses/mini bosses. Maybe take a page from the Carnival's book and make some rooms contain sets of mobs with linked aggro and mechanics which play off of each other and some which act somewhat like puzzles.

I'd rather square not waste even more development time on a half-baked feature that shouldn't exist in a MMORPG to begin with.

It's a MMO, play with people.

I like the idea for a endgame event, but not with trust because this is a MMO. Trusts should be limited to story stuff.
