The Ascians TRUE form: (ShB spoilers)

Alright so there's a big debate going on among Ascian lovers. The fandom pages now say that during the time of Amaurot, Ascians were 30 feet tall and had pale white skin. I realize that's what the SHADES look like, that Emet-Selch, the Architect, re-created in The Tempest.

However: That doesn't mean that, they were actually 30 feet tall before Amarot was destroyed by the Creation Cataclysm and the sundering.

Emet-Selch also goes on to tell us in the chamber of the Crystal Exarch (if you talk to him) that Zodiark had tempered his faithful followers, that such powerful magic could not be avoided. We know that Tempering can do some crazy things: And apparently, that's how -Ascians- were created: Tempered by Zodiark.

Unless it would be some future story spoiling, can we get some clarification if the First People were actually 30 feet tall?

There's no logical reason for Emet to design Amaurot at that scale to the point that it would be inconvenient for his own body size unless The Ancients were that actual size.

Logical reason being it's been one million years, if we believe Emet-Selch saying he's existed for a thousand, -thousand- of our lifetimes and that what he created was nothing more than a re-creation on a grand scale. Maybe he made everything overly large to emulate grandeur and greatness to try and give himself that feel of being absolutely surrounded by his city. Why did the Egyptians paint Pharaohs as large as Gods? Because they believed, in many cases, they had reached god-hood.

This, also after Ardbert rejoins with you in the cutscene before the final battle, Emet briefly sees you as one of the shades - indicating that's what they actually looked like.

Everything that we were shown about Amaurot was from Emet-Selch's mind. How he was envisioning things. And he himself says he may have gone a bit overboard. There's nothing concrete saying: "Yep, this is -exactly- as we were, 30 feet tall with pale glowy skin and we all wore masks and black robes all of the time."

We know Emet-Selch sees colors of souls. We find this out when he's looking for Y'shtola's soul in the life-stream. So, sure - could be that he can tell everyone apart by souls alone - even if everyone always wore masks with black robes. (Which, seems really unlikely?) What I'm getting at is, we can't take anything from someone's mind, even someone as old as Emet-Selch to be flawless in memory and execution.

The Warrior of Light fought primals HOW many times? If Eden has taught us anything: Our mind, when re-creating something, is not perfect.

Emet maybe an unreliable narrator but he is the only source of information for the Ancients. Perhaps nearly everything ever told to the WoL by everybody in the game has been a lie, but what would be the point of assuming that?

That's valid, but we only know what Emet told/showed us at this point. But given what we know about Emet being nostalgic for the good old days, I think he would want to recreate the city and its inhabitants as faithfully as possible.

Nostalgia distorts events in our memories the further one goes in time.

Our memories, but what about Emet or an Ancient?

We haven't been given information regarding his ability to accurately represent his home, so it's a safe enough assumption to subject his own mind to the same rules as our own. Plus forgive me if I take the words of an admitted half truth spilling condescending ancient with a pile of salt.
