Low stats for my first level 50 crafter?

Hi all, I apologize if this should’ve been posted in another board like the new player help as this is a fairly noob-ish question but it still falls into the realm of DOH’s so I decided to post it here.

I recently got my CUL to lvl 50 which marks my first lvl 50 crafter, but I seem to have super low stats compared to everything in my crafting log at this level. A lotta ARR stared items and low level HW items have high craftsmanship recommendations, and this is reflected in when I try to craft them as I can barely make it through the recipe even with name of the elementals or waste not on, and making high quality is completely out of the picture. I have 332 craftsmanship (and 313 control), while a lotta these recipes can go between 350 - 540 craftsmanship. I’m not using any materia currently either as it’s really expensive off the market and I really doubt I could get a good amount from Mutamix.

What am I missing? Materia? Cross class skills? Something else entirely?I’d be willing to buy materia as I can make the money back with my lvl 70 BTN eventually but I’m not sure if I’m willing to level all DOH’s to 50, would be willing to get them all to 15 though.

What kind of gear do you have? Gear plays a very big role, and the starred ARR recipes and low-level HW gear are not supposed to be doable unless you are wearing good ARR gear, or basic HW gear.
The Artisan gear you can buy from your Grand Company is an easy way of obtaining good level 50 gear nowadays. If that isn't good enough just level up to level 52/53 so you can use the crafted HW gear and tools.

Back when the level cap was 50 you had to jump through a number of hoops to get good DoH gear, but thankfully it is far easier today.

Coincidently I am wearing the artisans gear lol, also a matching frypan I bought from my GC and a lvl 48 waist. My jewelry is assorted ARR stuff around lvl 27 - 39 as the HW stuff doesn’t give too much of a increase. My average item level is 50.

Also I just bought a artisans knife off the MB right now so that bumps my IL up to 52. Sorry I can’t edit this onto the post I’m on mobile .

I took a quick look into your profile.
You're pretty much a single class crafter with just LTW lvl 16 having only Waste Not... Oh boy, life must have been tough.
Indeed, cross class skills is one of the biggest issue for you. All-15 is highly recommended, which would have made it A LOT easier to level CUL. Please do yourself a huge favor, and get All-15, so that you can have a much better life towards CUL 80.

Second, there is a huge difference in stats between HQ and NQ crafted gear. So in the future, please try your best to acquire HQ instead of NQ. I understand HQ offhand would be very expensive, but at least for the belt and accessories, they're not that hard to be crafted. If you don't plan to level all classes, it's best to have a friend who is an omnicrafter, so you can just provide him/her with mats and have a cheaper way to get HQ gear.... especially when there is still a long way towards lvl 80.

Third, it's time for you to unlock "Specialist", which will add a lot more stats to you, and also allow you to access to a huge variety of specialist skills. Please see my crafting guide Chapter 40 (http://ffxivrealm.com/guides/ff14-ad...e-tsukino.156/)

Forth, you don't seem to realize "CP > control/craftsmanship", as you have been using very low level accessories. Accessories are your main source of CP, and it's very important to maximize CP in this game... more important than maximizing control or craftsmanship. With CP, you can recover durability more easily, and use skills such as Ingenuity (BSM 15) that would reduce the recipe level for 5 steps, which has a similar effect to allowing lower level of craftsmanship for higher level recipes.

Fifth, you NEED a better rotation that utilizes more level 15 cross class skills, especially Ingenuity (BSM 15) and Tricks of the Trade (ALC 15). If you feel that completion of progress was tough for you, then ARM 15's Rapid Syn may be an option for you as well. Rumination (CRP 15) and Manipulation (GSM 15) are also things that may help you. Byregot's Blessing and Steady Hand II have now become regular crafting skills, and you need to know how to formulate a Byregot Finisher Phase in your rotation. Please see my crafting guide Chapter 10-12 (http://ffxivrealm.com/guides/ff14-ad...ie-tsukino.39/)

Not particularly no. The worst part of leveling was getting the necessary ingredients, as I had to go back and forth gathering a lot instead of loading up/buying it off the MB due to prices/inventory space. I will say that waste not helps a ton in crafting so it problems would’ve been harder without LTW.

As for becoming a specialist, isn’t that unlocked at lvl 55? Or am I missing something?

And now that you say getting everything to 15 helps a lot with rotations, I’ll be sure to lvl up all crafters to at least 15 as that doesn’t seem too time consuming considering I got CUL and LTW to 15 without even thinking about it.

Starred crafts are endgame crafts that expect you to have good gear and good melds, as well as a full set of cross-class abilities and a good rotation. Just keep leveling to 51 and get vendor gear from HW content. Do Moogle beast tribes and come back to those crafts when you've trivialized them with gear from HW or beyond. It's not worth investing in really good gear except at level cap.

To get any craft to 15 just do every recipe once. The guild shop sells everything you need, except the cooking guild doesn't stock fish, you buy fish at the hyaline just off the aftcastle. The guild quests provide more than enough shards. Check with the local levemete before you dispose of the stuff you crafted, some of it will be levequest fodder.

The star crafts are stall tactics, intended to keep people busy between expansions. The 4 star 50 has the same difficulty as a level 58 standard difficulty. It's the same at 60 and 70. The same will happen at 80 eventually.

In terms of rotation, you don't need cross class anymore and because you went Culi you don't need cross class mats. The only thing you will struggle in is gear. Go check the levequests in Ishgard. Eventually at all levels you will get HQ main and off hand as well as some body stuff as rewards.

As mentioned, CP is king but you are going to be CP starved until 56 or 58 no matter what. Baked Onion Soup is your new favorite recipe and pester some FC people to make you sets of HQ accessories for CP right to 70. At 70 you can get the yellow scrip stuff but you are in for a slog to 66. Then it's smoother sailing to 80. Again, only if you keep CP as your top priority.

Like the op I just got my first crafting class to the 50s(weaver). I hit 53 and bought the whole left side save for the belt and it put my craftmanship stat to 341.

The level 53 class quest item Holy Rainbow Gloves HQ the interface recommends 519 craftsmanship. I was able to get the quality to 71% and was lucky that it was enough for HQ.

My question is how much should I be concerned about the recommended stat?

Gonna work on my other craft classes so I don't have to rely on the mb so much.
