Please bring back old leveling up and longer battles!

Soo, if you didn't play FFXIV when it was first released, to level up you had to skill up, to skill up you had to hit the mob(which makes more sense than what we have now.) The only thing wrong with it was that the battles were too short. Not everyone had time to get shots in on the mob. If they balanced it right, it would also make leveling a little longer(good thing). The rested exp would make more sense as well(at least to me). The other good thing is, you wouldn't be able to level up if you just sit afk/pl . Pling would be gone, it would most likely turn into the FFXI pl system which I didn't mind, because they didn't help in kill the mob, they just cured.

If you guys don't like that, I think they should get some type of "skill up" back in the game.

Please name a few of the things that were wrong with it, you actually had to hit the mob to level up?

PLing as we know it would be gone, because we would have to hit the mob instead of just sitting there and letting the pl kill everything. The PL will most likely turn into a curing PL.

The biggest thing wrong was the obvious exploits and what ultimately led them to changing it. Don't you remember when they made the letter asking people who used buffs to gain xp to report it so their xp could be adjusted. Also you only got xp if you used sills from the correct class.

Then theres party play, you can completely be getting different numbers then your team mates and out lvl the party.

I remember killing some mobs and not getting any xp, i was like how the F does this work...

Also PL is PL, a 50 casting cure pretty much grants you invincibility. The only prob i have with PL is people don't learn the class. Both can be said for both types of PL.

Of course they would have to adjust it, but I leveled with my friends back in the day and we got pretty close to the same amount of exp, I might have not got exp on x mob, but on the next mob I did and he didn't.

Also, that's how it was like in FFXI the only thing would be the tank. Everyone else would still know how to do their job.

Not getting ANYTHING from killing something is completely unacceptable. Starting to think this is a troll post.

What? In XI if you were in a party and the mob died, you got xp regardless of whether you participated or not. It was never random. Skill Points are not the same as Experience Points.

Oh, it's you again. You should just make one thread and title it "Dear SE, please make it be 2010 again."

The entire problem with the skill up system was that it was completely unfair. When you hit the mob you had a *chance* to skill up. And certain classes got the shaft when it came to skilling up. Yeah, it was a blast when a group's archers and gladiators would out rank the lancers, thaumaturges and post exploit conjurers.

The more you post, the more I'm convinced you're just trolling. There's no way anyone could possibly want to revert this game back to the pre-Yoshida days.

Oh yes, please make it like in FF II in which I've beaten myself to death all the time because it was way more effective than waiting for the scared baby Goblin to attack me..

    For real, don't.
    Although it was fun..

Okay, to give a serious answer:
If the system isn't bugged, it's actually really nice. My favorite MMO has it.
BUT. That's something to decide BEFORE a game is made.
The leveling system is basically one of the core mechanics of the game and everything else is worked around it.
FFXIV may get revamped a bit with 2.0, but breaking the core mechanics is pretty much the same as breaking the game.
So..no. While I would enjoy SE giving us this kind of level system in some future FF game, FFXIV is not the right place for it.
