The thing I find most annoying with the current SMN playstyle that Egi Assault I & II are both connected to our GCD when pet skills previously were separate from GCD and could be easily interweaved into your cycles when having the pet in Obey. Where as now it just feel like a mess.
Bare in mind this is coming from someone pre ShB was pet swapping between Garuda and Ifrit just so they could use Contagion and Radiant Shield in the same fight.
hmm... doesn’t look like a joke... ^^‘

Huh? I had to log in to double check since you had me second guessing myself, but pet skills are still oGCD skills and aren't tied to the GCD at all. The main difference from before is that they're now obligatory oGCD abilities instead of having the option of the pet AI control their use.
I went machinist, it's easier, lol.
I know this is a little off topic, but I need to ask. I went 30-70 as SCH, then learned the basics of ShB SMN and went 70-80 as SMN, and I enjoy the class but I'm not actually doing very well at it. I'm okay at best. I'm going over the resources available in the Balance and whatnot, but I see two things that keep popping up on this forum and they confuse me. What do people mean when they say "Festerruin"? I'm guessing by the name it's just Ruin IV + Fester, but if it's not I'd like to know. People also say that SMN is priority based and not really a rotation job, but I don't see a priority list anywhere. I can only assume that when people say "priority based" they mean "If a CD is off CD, use it instead of Ruin III", but still, I'm in need of knowledge. I can't keep grey parsing like this. I did so much better as MCH, but my raid needed me as a caster dd with Raise, so here I am.
First rule of playing Summoner 5.0: never stop casting because you can't.
Summoner is now for people who hate casting the same thing over and over, or just sitting there with balls on your hand. It's awesome for those who love to have something to do every second.
Now, the rotation. See below for quick guide.
ruin3 precast on 3sec countdown, ruin2, tridisaster/DWT, R3, ED/inferno, R3, egi1/egi2, R3, aetherpact/fester, R3, egi1/egi2, R3, fester, R3, deathflare/bahamut, R3, R4, enkindle, R3, R3, R3, R4, enkindle/tridisaster, R4, ED, R4 fester

It means that while there's a "perfect rotation" where there's a fixed order of skills to do stuff in that results in the highest possible DPS (see image in the earlier post), SMN is less about executing that exact order of skills, and more about making sure they keep their various mechanics active and lined up. Things will quickly veer off of that ideal rotation in any real situation, and SMN is about knowing how to adjust for that. To compare, an example of a very rotation based job would be a Dragoon, which is heavily tied to executing weaponskill combos in specific orders with oGCD use in very specific spots within those combos. Veering off of that rotation script isn't much of an option for them.People also say that SMN is priority based and not really a rotation job, but I don't see a priority list anywhere. I can only assume that when people say "priority based" they mean "If a CD is off CD, use it instead of Ruin III", but still, I'm in need of knowledge.
SMN priority is keeping track of 4 separate things (DoT upkeep, aetherflow actions, pet actions, and trance rotation) and knowing when to do one thing over another if more than one are available as actions at a given time. E.g. you can only fit 2 oGCD between each GCD at most, so if you have 3 available, which do you use first? When do you use RuinII over RuinIII, and when do you save Ruin IV? Stuff like that.
Also, re: "If a CD is off CD, use it instead of Ruin III"
Ruin/Outburst are your GCD skills, and you should always be casting one every time your GCD comes up. All other skills are oGCD and should only ever be used in the spaces between your Ruin/Outburst casts. It's not a case of using one or the other, it's a case of weaving your cooldowns in between your Ruins. If your Ruin/Outburst cast is instant then you will have time to use up to 2 oGCD skills if done back to back before needing to cast your next Ruin/Outburst, and if it has cast time then you won't have time to use any. Making use of your trances and pet actions to make your GCD casts instant, and not wasting an already instant cast ability during these times is another example of one of SMN's priority considerations.

I don't know hơ you play, but back when i use SMN for shadowbringer MSQ, i use update scaeven gear until level 77 before slowly changing gear drop from dungeon (i don't use chest gear from quest because they look so boring)
And i think i killed field monster pretty quick with SMN compare with other job that have the same equipment, since in this xpac, if you ignore all SMN rotaion you can enter burst window really quick, especially when you unlock that trait which only need 1 DWT to summon bahamut, and the burst window getting even more stronger when you can begin to add FBT follow these 2 above
