Played my 70 SMN for a level, then shelved her. Nope, no ty.

Im not getting all the summoner hate.Yes there's a lot going on with the job but its quite a strong job currently which is likely to scale better later into the expansion.
It's high skill high reward situation but incredibly fun to play.it may need a bit more potency tweaks but currently its hard to say.If SE not careful the job will get overbuffed in the right hands.
As for soloing non dungeon monsters and fates etc the job can burst down fate bosses quite fast and a decent leveled chocobo will keep you alive.Just try to avoid fates that spam unavoidable poison.

the job is anything but strong and a lot going on is an understatement.
the kit of the summoner is basically a jigsaw puzzle that the pieces aren't connected to each other.
the egi are weak,in fact they are so weak that the chocobo outburst them by miles with his auto-attacks in either of his stances which isn't right at all.
not to mention that most of the rotation with him can literally break ur fingers and your mind with how busy and how much handling u need to do right now just to do some damage.
the parts of his kit barely connected to one another and you barely have any flexability along side the fact that summoner need lots of preparations to execute decent dps(in comparison to other classes let along have max dps).
the job can be a strong and possibly scale better later on,but right now the kit is literally in pieces and each piece is basically its own thing,the only thing tying them together is being part of the job we know as summoner rather then each piece will have a bond and flow with each other inside the kit.
sorry if i sound harsh but i strongly believe that right now summoner isn't in its best,the kit need to be more meaningful and fluent and for that to happen it needs a lot adjustments and changes with his kit.

yep, at level 63 your average item level should be around the 260-270 range. If you're far below that, you will definitely have problems. Upgrade your gear first before you complain that your job is too weak.
To be honest i like that some jobs arent dumbed down like monk was.There is a flow to the summoners rotation which actually works out quite well.And the dps numbers arent as low as people are making out.I dont agree with the idea that all jobs should be able to do high numbers with less effort which efectivly seems to be the current trend in attitude.(hence why monk got turned into braindead job)i don't mean to offend you but your joking right?

I can understand that some may struggle with so much going on and doing mechanics.The job isnt going to be for everyone and id rather people accept that then them make the job another low skill job to appease people.
Seriously though once you get used to the new summoner rotation you'll find its actually quite fluid.
Out in the feild I had no issues surviving outside of single monster FATEs that ended with more resets and frustration and not the world boss FATES either just the regular boss FATES that nobody should have toruble soloing. Titan summons sheild is a running gag. one hit by these things it's gone.

you claim there is fluid in the mechanics but i havent found a single component in the kit that contribute to one another.
as well as your claims about dps not being as low as people think, id like to know where you got your information from then.
could u please explain the fluid of the rotation and how each piece truly contribute to one another as well as how u determined the dps is higher then what the majority of players and main summoners claim pls?

SMN is much different in 5.0 vs prior. The changes can be confusing. That said I like the Current SMN and really don't see much wrong with it but there is a lot going on.
I suggest looking at the great info provided at the the Balance discord. For example:

Looks like an interesting link. However, OP was talking about leveling in 4.0, not 5.0, and the tools involved at endgame are not really there while leveling.
Perhaps it would be more worthwhile to discuss what a good 3.0/4.0/5.0 leveling guide might contain (revised for 2019 -- for example, there is hardly anything about leveling in 3.0 from 2016 era that applies to current available builds).
I haven't found leveling in 5.0 to be too difficult for SMN, even without Titan-egi as mini-tank. Then again, Titan-egi hasn't really been useful for tanking while leveling since the end of 3.0.
Don't have any idea whether I'm doing all the right things with the new actions, but I survive without much trouble. Might not be the case in dungeon instances, since I'm only level 71 at this point (80 Bard does fine...)
