Error code 90002 - forced log out the moment i enter the game.

this started yesterday, i have been playing ffxiv for about 2 months since my last hiatus and the game was running perfectly, then this happened. i logged in yesterday and within one minute of loading into quarrymill (where i was the day before) i get disconnected, and get the 90002 error. i checked this issue to see if my drivers were outdated, had my windows updated to ver. 1903, had my nvdia driver updated to ver.431.60, and had my network driver updated as well, defragmented my hdd's, did a complete virus scan. set my power & battery to performance, disabled the "allow the computer to disable this device" option in the power management of the wireless router, i cant think of any other solution..

just earlier i tried to log in again, this time keeping an eye on my task manager and device manager at the same time, and this time i have discovered that when i get the 90002 error my network adapter also disappears from the device manager for about a minute, then reappears and connects almost immediately.

also tested this with other mmo-games, namely EVE online & Black desert, neither games are experiencing any difficulty or connectivity issues.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I'm assuming that you are using a wireless connection to play the game, correct? Have you tried using a wired connection?

There are a few settings you may want to double-check:

    1) Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.

    2) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

    3) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

i have tried tried advice 2 and 3 to no avail, this time i get either a 90001, or 90002 error code, which may as well be the same thing from what i understand. i will be contacting my ISP tomorrow or the next day to do advice 1 and maybe get some insight on what they think the problem is, i will update this thread as soon as something happens.

sidenote: about 12 hours ago i was able to log into the game and stay logged in for several hours without issue, after which the game graced me with a 90002 error.. curious development and worth looking into, i will keep you updated.

update 8/15/2019 - went to cs support of my isp and they did a remote test followed up by an on-site test, i didn't hear back from them and for a few days my internet speed was very unstable- receiving 90006 and 2002 errors regularly, but in the 3 or 4 days since it seems to have returned to normal, i'm able to log into the game now without issue.. hopefully it stays that way. for now it seems the issue is resolved, thank you for your help and advice in this past 2 weeks; you may lock this thread at your convenience.
