To be fair, she does it literally because of the group of people in the woods. Outside the woods, there is no reason for it.Imo the entire "Master Matoya" bit in the story was completely and utterly unnecessary. It had absolutely no plot relevance at all. Including it in the trailer did nothing but generate a bunch of wild theories that turned out inaccurate. I also think its rather stupid, too. For one, let's buy this idea and say none of the members of the Night's Blessed used their real names. Of all the names Y'Shotla could've chosen, why did it have to be that one, the same as her Master's? Also, why was Urianger calling her 'Master Matoya" in the trailer? I would get it if one of the Night's Members called her that, neither he nor anyone else one calls her that after we leave the Greatwood
yes but in name only. technically we had nothing to do with being a warrior of darkness. The trailer made it seem that the power of light was ineffective and useless against the creatures of light and we had to use darkness to defeat them. the only thing related to darkness is when the sky opens up after you beat a lightwarden. the title of the expansion makes much more sense than any of the actual trailers. You were being an actual warrior of darkness bringing the darkness back to a world where the overwhelming light was being an oppressive evil that was going to destroy the world.
Do not confuse that with getting to be a villain running around causing chaos for shits and giggles. It is the standard Dark is not Evil and Light is not Good trope use. We are Heroes, whether our enemy is the Light or the Darkness.
