I was thinking this the other day. It gets brought out all the time for any of the serious abilities, I kinda wish it was the default weapon. Rework the autocrossbow into normal attacks and start making primal themed ones and viola, Edgar. But whats done is done.

I doubt they will make multitool default weapon. MCH lore already forbids it.
And well, other jobs can get "trait toggle" too without problems. My point is MCH suffers from the changes the most.
The point is more towards the customisation.
Once the playerbase gets a layer of customisation they will want the next layer.
People would want brand new alternative animations eventually. And to rework every lost animation back into this system would load files up massively.
While I agree this games limited customisation could use improvements with how close to the bones this expansion was I’d be concerned if problems would arise next release trying to implement these ideas.
Thats a pretty slippery slope argument, besides theres no precedent for square to go further. The point is more towards the customisation.

We asked for gauss barrel to be hidden, they did, then asked for the lunchbox to be hidden and they didnt.
We asked for egi glamours, we got them, then asked for more or fairy glams and didnt.

Well everyone is ignoring the simplest and most obvious reason why this can not be a thing. It's the same reason they give for a lot of things and it's extremely valid. Server strain. This would be a very serious problem with the suggested system. This isn't something as simple as egi glamours. Think of how often we press these buttons. Each time the server and the back end has to decide for each person playing machinist which animation set to display. That is going to stress the servers so badly that it's not even funny. Let alone any complications that would come out from the spaghetti code they are still working through.
Let's also just assume they only do this for Machinist. That's unique animation switch for Female and Male Hyur, Elezan, Lalafellin, Mi'qote, Au Ra, and Roegydaen; Male Hrothgar, Female Viera, in all level content, and then keeping that switch in mind for all future content. Then other Jobs feel left out of unique customizations, so this becomes exponentially more work as the game goes on. So the concern that the dev team will be biting off more then they can chew is very realistic.
The Blue Mage content is completely invalid here. Nearly half the game's population had been asking for Blue Mage since 2.0, Yoshi-P had to find a way to give the people what they wanted. Whether you agree with what they did or not is immaterial they did deliver something that the community asked for in Blue Mage and a large section of the community at that. This is something that as stated previously may be a few dozen or lets say 1-2 thousand people may want which really isn't all that much in terms of the game.
It's not worth the effort to implement a system like this if you actually think about the raw amount of work and the snowball effect it will have throughout the community vs the actual demand of it.
That's not the best argument. I'm certain server is not deciding which animation to play on the fly. It would be like a switch, and then it would work as it works always. And animations are the same for all races.Well everyone is ignoring the simplest and most obvious reason why this can not be a thing. And again, this is the only job with such drastic animation changes. That's why i think it deserves option to disable heated animations.
Personally I just want to whine about the Spread Shot sound effects.
This is another problem. MCH currently is very incoherent. One target attacks are heated, but aoe is normal bullets. MCH has lots of issues, but option to disable heated animations would at least make it rather coherent.
Changing aoe move to some heated thing would indeed make it coherent, but it doesn't change the fact that this job is named Machinist, not Acrobat, and some people want more toned down style. And at the moment heated actions are unlocked one by one, so still job is incoherent from lvl 52(?) to 63.

Yes, I would love to stand in place like a cardboard cut-out, ever vigilant as I never move while attacking.
Thats not what this thread is for, its about asking for options, some people prefer just the straight up shooting animations on mch, cos youre you know shooting people, not an acrobat.
