I think it's time to bring back this topic again, especially after 5.0 rework when job is finally playable, before barely anyone played it.
Machinist is the only job with such drastic animation changes (traits). All other jobs have balance between toned down and more crazy animations, for MCH all GCDs are very wild, so the things you see the most often. If you don't like it, you have a problem. A problem to which i offer extremely simple solution. These who like the animations won't be affected, and these who don't like them will be saved.
I suggest to add server side command, for example "/heated on/off", or something similar, that will simply disable the heated traits, while keeping increased damage. That way these who like heated animations will be able to still use them and show it to others, and the same about these who want to disable them.
When i talk about it i instantly get attacked by people who say "other jobs have the same animations". That's very false information. None of the existing jobs gets even close to craziness of MCH animations.
Lets analyze BRD, which is ranged physical dps too.
Normal animations - Heavy Shot/Burst Shot, Refulgent Arrow, Caustic Bite, Bloodletter, Sidewinder, Quick Nock, Rain of Death, Apex Arrow, Shadowbite.
More fancy animations, but still in the limits of logical sense - Stormbite, Pitch Perfect.
Jumps and flips - Empyreal Arrow.
And now MCH.
Normal animations - Gauss Round, Spread Shot, Flamethrower, Air Anchor, Drill, Auto Crossbow, Bioblaster.
More fancy animations, but still in the limits of logical sense - Heat Blast.
Jumps and flips - Heated Split Shot, Heated Slug Shot, Heated Clean Shot, Ricochet.
As you can see BRD has one weirder animation, but it's oGCD you won't see very often. For MCH, the most basic actions have very fancy animations, the things you see most often. It's extremely annoying, irritation takes over the fun. If i would want to see all these flips i would go play DNC, but ironic thing is even DNC has more stylish and toned down animations.
MCH also no longer actually shoots their gun? I mean we are "releasing the heat", not shooting with bullets. I know it's a machinist, not a gunner, but if they created non-heated animations i want to use them, and use the gun properly. Heated animations also take some time to fully play, which creates insane animation clipping. This would solve the issue for people who have troubles with it.
I'm not asking for miracles. I'm not asking for a rework. I'm not here to judge these who love current MCH, it's awesome job. I just suggest simple command which will solve all MCH animation problems (if you consider it as problem). Everything is already in game, both animations and this system - SMN can glamour carbuncles, we could glamour heated animations.
I'm certainly not the only one who has this issue. I have seen a few people on reddit, youtube, and here who hate heated animations, i know a few people in game who don't really like them either. I'm certain there are dozens of people who feel the same as me. And i'm sure there are hundreds of people who still play the job, but simply prefer original animations.
If you too like to see this change, don't hesitate to send them suggestion through in-game support desk menu. It's nothing too hard to implement, if we show demand, they have no reason to not add it.
