    GamePad Issues

    Hello forums,

I was on my way to log into the game this evening when I ran into some trouble with my Logitech Dual Action GamePad. I have tried to reset the settings through the FFXIV Config by changing the profiles, restarted my machine several times, and even reinstalled the driver for this particular GamePad. I am finding that the right Joystick of the controller is acting as a mouse instead of a controller and none of the buttons react to anything I do.

I am a little stumped on this one and not quite sure what to do. Does anyone have some suggestions that I could try?

    Hi Ehteos,

The case about the joystick acting as a mouse; is that only inside FFXIV or is it systemwide.
On my Mac (OSX) I use Gamepad Companion (http://www.carvware.com/gamepadcompanion.html), but I don't know an alternative for that on Windows. The general idea what Gamepad Companion does is map keyboard keys or mouse actions to the controller's button (I do it with a PS3 controller).

For example I set up for my X button emulate a ENTER key and my O button to emulate a ESC key etc.

When you get something like this to work you don't need to configure a Gamepad anymore in FFXIV Config, because you emulate your keyboard keys. Bonus you get with doing this is that your game will never crash if your battery dies or USB cord pops by accident.

I ended up fixing all of my issues through the "Constant-Crash-To-Desktops" thread. However, I haven't used my Logitech since I fixed the memory problem I was dealing with. I have switched to the "all frown upon" Turbo Controller (btw I only have one craft to 25 so don't start yelling at me for using a turbo controller , lol) and it has worked fine since. I may try to use the logitech when I get tired of the squeak that the directional pad makes on this one.

I use a PS3 wireless controller , the usb stick for it works on both ps3 and pc. ( theres a switch on it) they are around 10-15 bucks and works great. (Big Ben interactive)
I've always had problems with logitec lol

Do you use the software (its called Logitech Profiler) that comes with the logitech controllers to set up your controls? I don't use the ffxiv config as I prefer to have custom keys such as summoning chocobo and tab targeting instead of the options they give for commands. You might be able to fix the joystick-to-mouse issue with that.

I do use the profiler but I use the FFXIV config as well. They may be conflicting with each other but no worries. When the time comes I will use the profiler and disable the controller in the config.
