FF14 Edition PS3?

Greetings!

Recently my LS mates & I were discussing the upcoming release of FF14 on the PS3. Someone brought up the thought of a FF14 Edition PS3 because their current "George Foreman" PS3 was getting kind of old and they planned on getting FF14 for the PS3, so they figured it would be cool if SE released a FF14 Edition PS3 that also comes with a copy of the game. SE has done similar things for FF13 & FF13-2. Is there a possibility of seeing a FF14 Edition PS3?

Depends on 2.0 release and how it fares. Currently they can barely sell the copies they already made.

Not going to happen even if it did it would be Japan only. We never even got the FF XIII PS3.

With the horrible image FFXIV has out there I think that would be detrimental to SONY to be honest. I know the game is way better now but the general population only remembers the horrible game Tanaka shit on us.

I don't know who it was.. been wondering what happened for some time. Also i would think there isn't much chance of there being a FF14 edition PS3. As others have mentioned the console is too far into it's life to bother pushing releases when the next gen console isn't far off and the current image the rest of the world sees for FF14 isn't too good.

Ontop of that, the whole "XIV's image is tarnished so Sony won't do it" doesn't hold weight to anything because people consider XIII one of the worst FFs yet ironically I'm clearly looking at my XIII-2 PS3 >.>.

There's almost always going to be a package deal when it comes to FF in some way, XIII/XIII-2 had their PS3 consoles, FFXI was a package deal with new PS2s + HDD, FFIX was packaged with a walkthrough etc etc. Since XIV will be one of the few MMOs on PS3 it's almost guaranteed there will be a XIV special console edition for it for pre-orders or say Collectors Edition.

Also Wada is the boss basically, even Tanaka himself said XIV was unfinished and not ready for release mere weeks before it ended up getting a September release, those of us in the business world knows what happened all too well, especially if you're on a long running project and you're not allowed any more time. Also, the PS2 was (is) still going strong and was going strong even 5 years later so the PS3 isn't "too far ahead", it's settled, stabilized and in the perfect spot actually....there's almost no reason to buy a PS4 or Xbox 720/Next for example.

Things happen Jpn only because people actually buy it. I've seen unemployed men spend the money on games/systems. It's a problem because they mooch off their family but like I said in Jpn games actually sell.

Same thing happens in the states really I have friends try to mooch games off of me all the time lol, the difference here is jrpg's aren't really considered "cool" in the west. That modern warfare 2 Xbox sold a crazy amount here; it's just a matter of what a culture is in to. As a whole the gaming market is bigger in the US than in Japan they just don’t want what SE is selling.

Thank you! I'm glad somebody else finally said it. I hear people outside of these forums talking about how they miss squaresoft all the time. It's quite simple why SE sucks compared to squaresoft, Wada wasn't there until about 2000. If people pay attention there was an immediate loss in quality when he took over, I liked X but even it was significantly less than FF9 offered and it was because he forced it's release too. They stopped being a company all about providing top quality rpgs to being all about making a huge profit.


I don't think we'll get a console and here's why, I don't think it's up to SE if they produce one, it's up to Sony and I don't think they'll want to associate themselves with XIV. XIII was a bad game yes, but they were able to buy enough people out in the media to make it look much better than it was, they weren't relying on a subscription either so as far as sales go it was successful for them.

XIV imo was better than 13 even at launch but this time they couldn't buy the media out, I mean do you really think they can offer reviewers more money than blizzard? With all of the bad press and lost subscriptions XIV becomes what XIII wasn't and that's a financial failure.

I think the system is too far into its lifespan to be trying to actually push the systems. I can't imagine a massive crowd of people who would buy a PS3 to play XIV. I imagine the market the game is aiming for allready has a PS3.
