    Wyvern Suggestion

Admittedly, I am not a Dragoon, though I hope to be one eventually (Lancer/Dragoon is the next job on my list). But since the release of v2.0 info some time ago I've had an idea to solve the Dragoon wyvern debate, and that is this:

There have been promises made of being able to bring our mounts (i.e. Chocobos) into combat with us. If that is indeed going to be the case then it would be quite simple to give the Dragoon a job exclusive wyvern mount that would have comparable strength to a chocobo in combat. This would give the Dragoon job a unique fighting companion without having to make any changes to the job itself (since everyone else would have their chocobos to assist them, it would be largely an aesthetic change). This could be made to be either exclusive to dragoon (only able to summon your wyvern mount while on the dragoon job) or it could simply be a reward for a dragoon job quest (allowing a player who has completed the quest to summon it as any job).

This does however present some difficulties, since the wyvern mount should be ridden but not be able to fly (unless other flying mounts were also introduced for other players to use). But it could be a landbound wyvern (something like the serpentine drake mobs) or a low hovering wyvern that would be subject to the same obstacles as a chocobo. Furthermore it would certainly need it's own set of combat skills to differentiate it from the standard chocobo mounts which may inadvertently cause one or the other to be more powerful, but hopefully this could be balanced appropriately and not be too noticeable.

Keep in mind that this is just a cursory suggestion, but it would certainly seem to solve the concept of the dragoon/wyvern bond while maintaining the job's independent strength.

If you like this idea, speak up so hopefully the devs might see it. If you don't like it thats fine too, just keep it civil.

No, that wouldn't solve anything. Play the Dragoon Storyline, we are clearly introduced as dragonkillers, infused with the power of the dragons to fight them on equal footing! Can't go around hugging my wyvern in Ishgard, can i?

Dragons are introduced as very evil entitys, which corrupt the mind of mankind and make mortals into slaves for the dragonkin. Even the Dragoon himself has to keep the dragon soul in check, or else it consumes his mind, resulting that even people with very reasonable grudges against the dragonkin submit to their cause.

I like the fact that we are fighting dragons not keep them as our pets and i urge SE to not change anything lore related... Would be a major letdown.

I'm not particularly for or against this idea. I was against the idea of a pet class, but a mount is fine with me. Or nor, whatever.
But the story allows for it as well. Spoilers?

Dragoons have a special connection to dragons. This allows them to kill the hell out of dragons, but it also would allow something like this given a certain direction in the story. As we saw in the final quest of the dragoon story, dragoons certainly can team up with some sort of wyrms at least. I don't care either way, just think it is indeed possible for them to work it in if they wanted.

I think thats because Estinien already had fallen for Nidhoggs lies, remember: the dragon eye told him about Alberics "betrayal". Estinien already lost it when we came to meet him, i guess.

No pets for Dragoons. I far prefer the Dragoon as we have them now, in the style of Final Fantasy IV.

I'm not against the idea of a class that has support or pets, but make that a Summoner, or a new class entirely. Dragoons as they are works fine for me, and that way they don't have to explain away why you're buddies with your sworn enemy.

If you want a pet Wyvern, how about let Interplay/Black Isle/Obsidian handle it? Choices are not illusions, and you can screw over the final boss real good.

Alright. As I said, I haven't unlocked Dragoon yet, if a wyvern companion is not in keeping with the game lore then no it probably shouldn't be implemented.

The whole lore behind the making of dragoon makes no sense.
First..for some reason AZURE dragoons come from a legendary sword swallowing dragon from ragnarok that is BLACK in color.

Second, ignoring the azure dragoons...it seems that random dragons give their souls to soldiers in roder to turn them into dragoon because....why not! aka, to fight dragons...so random dragons give souls to humans to fight dragons for no reason. Sweet...but thats not where it ends!

The sole purpose of Ishgard is to kill dragons, now...dragons are their source of dragoons...if ishgard kills all dragons there would be no new dragoons and ishgard would become the weakest of all cities against the Empire.

yes...the lore for ishgard army and dragoon making is useless.
