Lack of action against gathering bots, it needs to be changed, and soon

We have some of this on Leviathan but not as much as most seem to have. What I find annoying is RMT bots from other servers couchBehemothcough "visiting" ours just to put their rmt spam in shouts. I realize Squeenix doesn't seem to much care about this but geez, put a little effort into stopping this!

The problem is that all it takes is one of these player-run gathering bots to completely crash a server's base mat prices, since one that targets ephemeral nodes can target the most basic of building blocks of not only endgame crafts (aethersands), but crafts in general (crystals and clusters).

When you have 3-4 of these bots on a server PLUS one that targets unspoiled nodes, your economy becomes a joke.

I'm not sure why they even permit world travel on trial accounts, honestly.

Though that would still only be a temporary measure because as soon as a server comes off of congested status the RMT bots rush in ASAP.

True but it would be a start. Right now ALL of the RMT bots on Leviathan are from Behemoth. It's ridiculous!

Trial accounts cannot trade, /tell, reach level 36, use Mb, Join FC, etc. They cant affect the market.

It's not the market they're affecting, they're just being used to RMT spam congested servers that have locked character creation.

Bots can actually do things that normal players can't as they're basically overriding the default control interfaces to send commands directly to the client and can bypass some of the restrictions they're normally bound by as a side effect.

They're not anything major but I have witnessed them doing things like activating skills during cutscenes/loading screens, targeting things that are not in their line of sight (They still obey LoS when using skills, though), and keeping things targeted well outside of the range that's normally possible (IE, someone had the main aetheryte in Kugane targeted while they were all the way by the Eureka entrance). I've also noticed they're able to use summoning bells without actually targeting them (I can tell because they'll be listing items and changing prices despite them seemingly just idling by the bell).

They're apparently going to be revamping quite a few aspects of the DoL/H classes to coincide with Ishgard Restoration releasing...so it's going to feel pretty aggravating when they inevitably fail to address one of the most problematic sides of it when they're finally making a push to get more people interested in it.

That doesn't sound wise at all.

Interesting bot side note: I encountered a couple characters in WoW running the same bot program. They'd kill beasts to loot bones and skin them. Giveaways were running into the same obstacle every tome, and making a 90-degree turn at the same point every loop.
After skinning, the bot would mount up, then ride to the next mob, even if it was 10 yards away. The bot also killed packs of mobs at a time.

I found that I could hit one of the beasts he was gathering up, pull it away, then hex it (60 second cc). This kept the bot in combat, so it couldn't mount up. Without mounting, it didn't go anywhere I'd keep him stuck in this mode until the operator came back and usually said ?? a couple times before disappearing.
(I also reported them every time, and they eventually disappeared after a couple weeks)

Haha, Mob training and waiting for them to do an AoE + feign death / shadowmeld also works wonders. ^^
Bots are way more fun on PvP servers.

Uuh blast from the past... getting asked whether one is able to craft an item and engaging in negotiations about fees... man, the last time I did that was during The Burning Crusade back in 2007.

I don't think most people are that communicative these days.
