    An Actual Directx Crash Fix

    Hello,

I have been suffering DirectX crashes ever since Shadow Bringers dropped but I have found a fix that seems to work, not only in this game but in other games prone to crashing so I wanted to share it.

tldr: What I found was adjusting my "TDRDelay = 30" in windows registry and running in borderless window seems to have fixed the issues

TdrDelay - Specifies the number of seconds that the GPU can delay the preempt request from the GPU scheduler. This is effectively the timeout threshold. The default value is 2 seconds. By increasing this it gives the GPU more time to recover instead of crashing the game.
    KeyPath : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
    KeyValue : TdrDelay
    ValueType : REG_DWORD
ValueData : Number of seconds to delay; 2 seconds is the default

That is an interesting find and it does make sense, the driver recovery thing has not worked great with nvidia drivers from the start.
And when FF crashed I did get driver recovery notifications now and then.

It's difficult to say for sure if this 100% works for me, since crashes have not been constant. Some days everything works fine, others days I get crashes 5 times.
But at least since I've set TdrDelay to 10 (30 seems a bit silly long) I have not had a single crash.

Tried this at both 5, 10, and 30 delays, still have the same DX11 crash errors.

Will work for some but not all it depends on what is causing your game to crash, it wont all be caused by the same issue for everyone. The game I find is also sensitive to memory overclocks, windows game mode being on, overlays and cpu overclocks in general.

Had all kinds of issues with Game Mode and nvidia overlays. I've always run with a cpu OC, very, very OC'd <.< and never had an issue I could trace to it. Right now I've got Game Mode off, Xbox...junk..crap thing off, GeForce experience is on, with overlay but ONLY for the Game Filter which I very much enjoy. I've been, for the most part trouble free. Did get the DX11 crashes on my gaming laptop, that require a fresh install of the client to repair

    (edit) Terrible cat spelling
