Saving the Void? (Time travel) - future expansion idea?

As it is, the Void has the fundamental problem of not having any aether. The first hurdle that would have to be overcome would be somehow getting the 13th Shard to have it's own aether cycle again and at the moment... we've yet to find a way of creating aether out of nothing. Quite the opposite in fact...

Is anyone can point me to a reliable description of the Void? I'm absolutely not certain there's no aether left. I know the 1st lore book hints at the voidsent to be hold denizen of the 13th. It also hints to the use of auracite and corruption the crystal can brought (further confirmed by the Ivalice story arc). I'm under the impression the entirety of the aether's shard is hoarded by the voidsents. I know the popular belief is the whole shard has been carved out/destroyed, but I haven't seen a satisfying explanation in game or in official material.

I know voidsents are feeding on eater like they're starving, but if they were so low/poor on aether, the Mach civilization wouldn't really be able to power their whole city with captured voidsents, right?
