frustrated new player looking for a good website

have been playing for a week or so and having yet to find a good website for ff14 info, guides, etc. something that is easier to use than SE's poorly executed system. something like ten ton hammer, wowhead or the like. granted most of those are gone now. but in the early years of wow they were very useful. so far the best thing ive found for ff14 is a spreadsheet with a bunch of links to other sites. takes forever to find what im looking for.

Some of the information might be outdated due to ShB expansion, but you should be able to find pretty much everything of note here. Good luck and have fun!

The two main comprehensive wiki sites for FFXIV are console games wiki (which Aeducan already linked) and gamer escape:

Most others have a more specialized focus.

The sites listed above are the go-to. I use both of them regularly when digging for information.

    Some other sites of note:

http://ff14angler.com/ All the information you could possibly want for fishing.

https://www.ffxivguild.com/ Their leveling guides are pretty informative.

https://thebalanceffxiv.com/ The players who contribute to the guides found here are some of the best around. If you want to know how a job is played at the highest levels, this is one of the best places to look.

I sometimes think we need a FFXIVflames site as there was for EQ2 back in the day. A place for all the embittered old veterans to go and bemoan how easy the game has become. I am always surprised how even the subreddits don't seem to allow any type of criticism to gain traction. As it is maybe a list of maintained support sites should be stickied to this forum.

There's no real divide between PC and consoles in this game, as all players share the same servers and the only way to see if someone else is playing on PS4 is to also be playing on a PS4 (you can check gamertags on console only). As such, game info is pretty much platform-neutral, so there aren't really any 'console-only' sites.
