I'm ok with this practice on a F2P or B2P game, but this is a P2P game. Limiting space like they do in this game just to force people to pay for additional retainers is a pure scam and greedy practice. They do that on purpose, there's more crafting materials than you can store.

A few examples on how to "fix" this.. Guildwars 2 has a materials specific bank, it works perfectly and literally no one complains.
Swtor You can have 2 banks, account bank and personal character bank. You can upgrade each bank from 100 to 500+items storage using in-game currency, it's cheap and it works.

Cash shop should be cosmetic only specially on a subscription based game, but selling in-game QoL is just to much.

Now I have two options: 1 - quit the game for refusing to feed their greedy mindset. 2 - keep feeding this hungry monster by buying additional retainers.
Every game has limits on inventory. Every single one and most are more restrictive than this one.

You talk about the 500 inventory spaces that SWTOR allows you if you make the right in game purchases. What about the 560 generic inventory spaces plus an additional 455 gear specific spaces you get in this game by default once retainers and chocobo are unlocked?

It's your choice to level all crafting jobs knowing that inventory is limited. No one is forcing you to do it. Your problem is you're a hoarder.

Don't hang onto mats that you might need at some point in the future. Buy and keep only what you need for immediate use, especially materials that can be purchased from a vendor. Ditch all those bat fangs, imp wings and dodo feathers because you're rarely going to use them and you can buy them dirt cheap off the MB when you do.

It's not that hard to manage inventory for all crafting jobs with just 2 retainers as long as you're not going to get into serious end game or housing item crafting as your primary means of making gil - and as long as you don't hoard materials you aren't immediately using.

I managed just fine with 2 retainers for 2 years despite leveling all DoH jobs. It was only once I decided to make crafting my primary source of gil that I decided to pay for extra retainers.

For me, $19 is still one heck of a bargain for dozens of hours of entertainment a month. Better than the $30-40 a month I was dropping on the F2P games because there was always something else that needed a real money purchase.

If you feel like that's too much, then you may be better off playing something else. A threat that you will quit playing isn't going to inspire SE to change anything.
