    Regarding seals and I highly suspect it is something I am doing wrong.....

    If i apply say a melee card to a ranged class would I still earn a seal?

    I have noticed a couple of time applying a card and the seal hasn't been reflected in the arcanum so I wondered if that was due to applying card wrong?

    You will get a seal in that scenario. The only time you dont receive a seal is if you are registered out of combat when you throw the card out. (Which is why ASTs opener is stupid, practically have to give yourself carpal tunnel to make divination line up with party buffs) just throw on a combust before you throw the card out and it should be fine.
