You also have to keep in mind that outside of burning sleeve draw which has a 3 min cooldown it takes 90 seconds for AST to potentially have their Divination back to being properly ready.
And what if your sleeve draw is up. You lose what? 3-4% dps hand out across the board? What ifs... right? Anyway That statement was made on the excuse that death to AST was extremely punishing which it isn't. It's less punishing than a SCH dieing. Resummons cost mana and time. Drawing cost nothing but your attention. Also priority when rezzed is healing which you are limited at doing since 2/3rds of your heals are off limits, including your instant heals. You depend on another healer when rezzed or a window so you can cast so you don't die again as sch. AST astrologian you have multiple heals that can be used to save you and you can still play your little cards. You lose a divination but that only really matters to 4 people. You can short sub it out for a lord or lady and be on your way. You can still support and survive.

And even if Aetherflow is up. You waste either your emergency CD for 1 aetherflow stack or two aertherflow stacks with lustrate to get back to half or slightly above, then summon fairy. You still have no fairy guage till you use aetherflow when it is summoned meaning you can't use it's heal moves. Hopefully your tank doesn't take to big a hit or multiple people don't need heals by the time you are ready to do your job again.

I can definitely see what people mean when they say death is more punishing to a scholar than an astrologian, but it still feels worse to me on astrologian. It could just be that I have more experience with scholar, so my response to death is more along the lines of "yeah, okay, dead, I can deal with this", whereas I tend to get more derailed as an astrologian.

But I think it's also because:

Losing mana and time is a serious detriment, but I don't mind so much because it's an interesting hurdle to overcome. Getting back on track without sufficient mana can actually be kind of fun.

Whereas losing all the work you've put into seals and divination doesn't really make that much difference, but it's more discouraging to me because the work I did counted for nothing.

(Losing my fairy gauge is a bigger problem, but since I mostly use aetherpact for trash pulls I'm fine with just ignoring it until the gauge builds back up.)

Fairy gauge? Really not sure I actually care about it since the use is barely there anyway. Just some perspective to think about before claims are voiced was my only intention. Yeah the initial reaction to death as Scholar for me is oh no now I have to pop this lucid + Aetherflow and lustrate only if I don't have enough time for this Adlo which I almost always do. swifty fairy and we ready. But just because I can react this way doesn't mean the class doesn't take a hit from it.

Yeah, for what it's worth, I don't really care about the fairy gauge much either. I'm just saying—it actually takes some work to build up, even if the work is largely automatic, so it's marginally more upsetting to lose it when dying than the aetherflow.

Actually, I think that may be the reason I don't care about the fairy gauge. Aetherflow is generated easily by a single ability; the complicated part is in the spending, where you can use it on a lot of different abilities. The fairy gauge is the opposite way—it's generated by multiple abilities, but spent on only one (well, two now). I guess I find resource-spending more interesting than resource-building, so I prefer the aetherflow way.

That makes sense. When trying to come up with ideas to make the Gauge work I've hamstrung myself having AF interact with the Gauge somehow. All it would do is introduce more busywork. When AF and Quickend AF did feel just right. Could say it was the Scholar job gauge all along. If the Fairy Gauge stays I'd rather see Embrace and Fairy skills used to fill it up.

Also wanted to bump this with reminder of the Q&A Live Letter coming this friday.
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...escom-2019-Q-A

As has been mentioned there, considering the guest appearing, the questions answered might just be lore in nature. Yet it is an avenue to ask for some awareness about all Healers and the most voted questions as I can see are Healer job concerns. Please read through and press Like on any questions that ring true for your own. HatStand made a great suggestion if they could make a Healer related Live Letter with accompanying thread for questions (link).

Literally combing through all the healer ones and liking them. I swear to RNG they better finally address it ><
related side-note- any of us bilingual in Japanese to see if their player base has the same concerns on their q&a list? I'd be curious considering they seem to have more weight on what happens. <-- (total speculation on my part, but just how it feels).

I have a feeling they will avoid any questions that shows people are unhappy with the game in any way since this isnt a live letter, but a convention.

I think they will focus on lore, design, and joke questions and continue to ignore healers

At this point I can accept that, because no way they haven't taken notice, so they at least have to be discussing it inside HQ or whatever.

Make SCH great again! Seriously though, we just want our class to be fun and engaging again, not OP, is that too much to ask for?

I agree, which is why I posted:

Based on the like ratio on this thread, more than there are players who want to hear about story/world related things. We posted our questions for the live letter and the majority of them did not get answered, and I feel bad posting healer questions here when I don’t think it’s the appropriate place, but having an appropriate place to post them would be great.
Being rude to the devs won't get us any changes. Spamming them with questions in the wrong places will annoy them and make them less likely to actually pay attention to us. What we need is strength in numbers, upvoting the same few posts (I recommend Billy's on page 1):

Hopefully if we show that we are here and we want answers, but we're not going to be rude about it, we can get a place where we can post all our concerns for them to attend to without being rude about it (which is what I'm asking for). What's more, people who aren't healers are less likely to tune into a Q&A/live letter/whatever that's specifically about healer concerns, therefore the devs can talk about the problems with healers without losing face in front of a wider audience.

I got a bit angry when I get reminded the previous Q&A session. Just to be clear, there was sometimes a Q&A session that's dedicated to a single category(Soken's session for example). The previous one was general, but the questions picked by staff are lore for the majority.

    Some of the answers were:
"I will let the writer answer it in our future Q&A live letter."

So a lore dedicated Q&A session is already planned, and yet questions picked by staff are mostly about lore......

I lost interest with the live letter stream few questions after job adjustment segment was over, which was surprisingly short.

I do hope they know about whole healer role situation. The question is how fast they gonna respond. My tank queue are getting worst during off peak time that's not midnight.
