Choices..

I wanted to run this by you all and see what you think.. I have 3 jobs at 80 and I like them all.. Red Mage, Dancer and Machinist.. All are geared in at least Item level 440 Goetia gear.. I typically solo alot during the week and once in a while run dungeons with my friends (white mage, black mage and Gunbreaker) I do alot of open world content and queue into raids and dungeon runs. I'm up to running Savage and extremes now but not with a static. I can't seem to settle on 1 of the jobs so I keep switching back and forth. I know what most will say.. play what's most fun! but I enjoy them all, I just want to settle on 1. So given this situation, what would you play and why?

Do you mind standing still to cast a spell or you preffer complete liberty to move around?

Do you feel more like an elegant swordsman, like a stunishing dancer doing hypnotic moves, or like a geek shooting and controlling robots?

If you enjoy them all but want to focus on one, Dancer is beloved by all.

Personally, I would go with MCH. That's only because it has the best aesthetic in my opinion though. Idk, using a high-powered firearm in combat just seems a lot more enjoyable to me than using a rapier and dancing around. I've also heard the class has become a lot greater in ShB. So, again my vote goes to MCH.

I have to agree there! I had so much extra from Eureka that I was trying to get the gun look from the hydatos but no one is ever there now to finish it up lol.. There are aspects I love about each of the jobs.. I love the survivability of the RDM,.. but the mobility of the dancer is just amazing and everyone likes having a dancer in a group and Machinist is just raw DPS right now .. nothing on PAR with a BLM but still quite good. I spent time today clearing fates for the zone rep in Shadowbringers and found that all 3 jobs I had no issues soloing almost any of them with 440 gear and a rank 15 chocobo set as healer only.. Difference is the dancer took longer, the RDM could heal itself if the choco couldn't keep up and the Machinist just mowed it all down so fast I didn't need much healing.

I would personally be switching between all 3 of them. I get bored easily if I stay in one job for too long, so I often switch between WHM, NIN, MNK, DNC, and RDM to keep things fun for me. Though, since my static already has its 2 healers and a DNC, I'm limited to NIN and MNK for my switcheroos to not cause any party comp troubles. I enjoy playing all 5 of them, so why should I, or you for that matter, limit myself to just 1 for savage content? Since all 3 of your prefered jobs are ranged DPS, switching between them won't mess up your party comp. Plus, mastering multiple jobs makes you a more flexible player overall, and gives you a better understanding of your teammate's jobs, which leads to better teamwork. So, why limit yourself to just 1 when you clearly enjoy all 3 of them so much that you just can't pick one single job to main?

Sounds like u have same issue as me, just play all of them depending on your mood! If it isnt too difficult to keep them all geared sufficiently what's stopping you?

In savage content I could imagine u not getting far with RDM in its current state, a lot of PFs will block RDM accessing their parties as they considered a very weak job.

And if your not intending to play a second caster role this could hinder you overall.

I’d personally go Dancer / machinist and here’s why:

They share armour, this will make it very easy to keep them geared jointly. You can farm these pieces and keep each geared automatically by simply upgrading one

This will give you the most flexibility in choice of your choices, these two sharing armour will make it much easier on you long run. Compared to mixing casters and ranged physical.

Most will pick a role and level all 3 in that role because of this. (Not saying you need to)
