Well actually when recount or skada add on came out for WoW it was use to harass and belittle other players who were deemed “not good” due to their dps seeing very low on dps meters....so I can see why SE is against dps meters because eventually some players will use it against other players it’s just human nature...although I don’t disagree with op I would like for SE to implement its own dps parser/meter but it just had to be done right...

it's happened to me and it's happened to others i know. just because you don't see it in your encounters doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Sadly, there are morons out there that use the tool for the wrong purposes, and that just makes those of us that use the tool correctly to be seen in a bad light. You yourself may not be seeing them, but it does happen every so often. I know certain morons that are parsing during level 15 dungeons..and are happy they are top of the charts... (I am sure it's for joking purposes, but sometimes I wonder...)

I agree it's kinda ridiculous to not allow at least a personal damage meter to let you see how well you are doing and if things get to dicey somehow, then just remove the feature, but sadly not all individuals use tools the correct way, which is what probably prompts the parser witch hunt.

Stone Sky Sea can have it's uses but in a real fight, inside a dungeon, you will not see how are you performing unless you use an external source.

I understand SE position on this matter, they do not want problems, just look at WoW toxicity with all those addons to keep track of aboslutely everything.

My advice, use ACT and never tell anyone you're using it. We have a kind of tacit pact with SE, they know most people use DPS metters but as long as you don't harass people you won't have any problem.

Not sure how someone can say this with a straight face, it is a tool and like any tool it depends on how it is used. So of course people use it in ways it is not supposed to.

Either way while it would be nice to have an official one, if a player wants to use one then use the unofficial one, but please let us not try and pretend some will not use it in ways to disparage others. Granted it is a moot reason since that is what GM's are for and people currently already do it. SE is being overly protective, but not much we can do about that.

Exact reason they dont add it less ppl practice their class the less they know of a meter and more subs they get. But then blame the raiders for kicking them out. Cuz ppl pointed them out for not practicing their class.

It could be because of the community toxicity, but I also think that implementing an in-game damage meter that can be turned on and off could be really challenging to do in FFXIV. I'm no programmer, but gathering from some of the answers from the latest Live Letter, it sounds like data transfering and data storage is something that is constantly causing issues when programming something, thanks to vanilla ffxiv's spaghetti code that is this game's foundation.
