Parse number not quite...I have seen MMO turn a community what bigger number mean more talking power, it bring the worst of man. Also what’s the point of personal parser when such number are being ask by other.

I agree we need some indicator to show how we did, but not a parser, something better reflecting fight scenario, a better improve version of sea sky stone, only give you “pass, near enough but need to work hard, you are long way from clearing” these kind of indicator show the player have full capabilities to clear specific content in their role. It may not tell you how good you are above the clear content line, but at least it give you an information you are not an dead weight and not being carry
A line have to be draw, I believe a traditional damage meter will never be official(I do hope so), yet sometime I also question if I am doing my rotation right or line up my buff right, and this could be the tool where the middle ground could be achieve

I think it's reasonable to have a dps meter for yourself. If your not hanging around balance discord or scanning the webs you'll have no real way of knowing what your doing is right or wrong. I think a dps meter should be available for anyone that wants to use it to improve their dps.

I feel you don't necessary need a meter that shows numbers. Maybe do something like Devil May Cry V were you are given Ranks on your DPS performance. Even a gauge could help. For example, a Black Mage with gauge that gets frozen if your DPS is bad, electricity if your doing decent DPS, and flames if your are doing good DPS. I would like something like that.

Only if it also brings more layers to the background music as well.

That doesn't really get you where you need to be - something that can output hard data, that can be analysed, is superior because it can actually show you where you're going wrong. Granted, there's external tools for such purposes, but again something integrated into the game would be better.

There is no real harm in being able to study what you're doing. If your doing it to improve then where is the issue? D:

It's because really bad people don't want to find out how bad they're being.

Or maybe its the fact that berating players with a parser is a bannable offense.having them then release such a tool into the game would just open up a can of worms because then they'd be forced to decide do they let player berate others over parsers which would go against everything they've stood for in the past and result in a backlash from the player community or still punish players and deal with a much larger amount of reports and waste their time on those reports going through the logs(you'll likely end up with a lot of fake reports keep in mind)

Yeah okay but they might not be "bad players" after a couple of hours on a dummy with a dmg meter.

Bad players will still be bad.Its not parsers that is impeding their lack of skill or want to play semi decently.its laziness.
