I suspect we may get...
Young G'raha Tia
To replace Exarch (with his lvl 80 1st alternate outfit being Crystal Exarch outfit) sometime in 5.X MSQ as our permanent version for Trust.

Gnath Deftarm?
Gnath Deftarm.
In all seriousness he could be like a ranged pDPS/mage unit

(Note: According to the achievement descriptions, you're fighting with 'avatars' of your friends.)
Hraesvelgr - Midgardsormr finally got him to work on himself so he wasn't such a sad sack, and we get to take him adventuring with us. He spends most of his time muttering under his breath and blocking the camera. Soon voted least favorite trust.
Baby Midgardsormr - All he does is fly behind you and make sage remarks about the folly of man and how weird mortals are.
Alpha - uses his cards in battle! Also randomly makes you invisible.
Nero - Smugly tells you about all his latest gadgets/improvements. Makes fun of you when you die.
As for young G'raha being a possibility, I agree...but he wouldn't be an all-rounder, I don't think. He was originally an archer, which just means having a fourth DPS. They'd have to figure out how to change his job, I guess. He sure won't be throwing out benediction in between flares like Exarch.

Our retainers.
He was only a Archer because he had not yet mastered his powers. 5.X MSQ may provided the lore about how he learn to use the powers at a younger age due to Exarch help which would lead to him becoming the all Role Job character but a less experienced since he is younger. As for young G'raha being a possibility, I agree...but he wouldn't be an all-rounder, I don't think. If the MSQ plays out in the way I am guessing then we can expect a Young Spock and Old Spock Scenario with those two.

The only one I want is Nero.
Nothing is ever impossible when it comes to lore, since the lore is forever being written. In the case of Shantotto, yes as of now she returned to Vana'diel, but come later in say 5.4 or whatever, if SE wants to bring her back as part of the lore and story. Nothings really stopping them from doing so. Technically any NPC could be included if SE wants to write them into the developing story. You do realize FFXIV's Trust system is nothing like FFXI's and so the NPCs forming your party are the actual npc, and are not a magical construct like the FFXI version? Hence why it's impossible for Shantotto and other crossover characters to be a part of it - Shantotto for instance returned to Vana'diel ages ago, so she's out completely. And correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Trusts here relevant to the story dungeon to be undertaken hence why the selection is limited?
I hate to say it, but you're not going to see much of an expansion into FFXI's version, that's just facing facts. Really you're more likely to see an expansion of the Company squadron into more content - the Trust system will probably remain SHB centric due to lore reasons.

oh, didn´t even think about him.... now i need him as trust...
Also, Estinien would be nice; give me that grumpy dragoon.
I would have liked the trust system not depending too much on the msq/lore.
Because i really want Haurchefant as my Paladin of trust.

Nashu Mhakaracca - AoEs enemies with her bombs.
Greg - Might randomly open a portal to the last boss of the dungeon. Attacks with either Excalibur (for massive damage) or Excalipoor (for 1 damage).

While more trusts would be nice. I think I'd like a bit more variety in the choices, especially for DPS. To quote an FC mate, "right now we just have Booms, Stabs, and Booms with Stabs"
I would also like an indepth breakdown of how they function. You see little things during gameplay, but not everything. I wanna know what moves they use, what they say in battle to indicate things, and who they pair well with. We all know the Twins pair well together, and I just recently learned that if Thancred has Ryne in the party, he can do the Continuation rotation. These are interesting tidbits I'm sure most people wanna know.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

The post msq version is not.
You actually dont want the twins together. They dont lose any skills, and alphinaud prioritizes Alisae for actions if they're together instead of the tank or himself. We all know the Twins pair well together, and I just recently learned that if Thancred has Ryne in the party, he can do the Continuation rotation.
