It's not something I typically look at when it comes to other players.

What content besides savage do you need to do this?
If they can't hold aggro or DPS it's usually a low gear problem or they just bad, not because they didn't have materia.
Game really isn't that hard lmao.
Goodness no!! I don't even meld. I sell it all.
I saw a gatherer back in SB who had melded vit to their gear so yes
I don’t particularly care what melds people use—I know some people get really upset about healers melding D.Hit but meh. They can do whatever they want as long as they heal when they need to. If I see happen to see egregious melds, I kind of just sit there in shock for a few seconds, but I rarely say anything. I don’t normally check other people’s gear though unless there’s an issue in a run (e.g., the tank has several thousand less HP than the DPS/healer, things dying too slow, tank taking a lot of damage despite using CDs, etc.).
I only examine a player if there’s a particularly obvious problem. Like when I zone into an instance and see that I have more HP on my healer or DPS than the tank does. Then I’ll probably look at their gear and see if it’s not up-to-date or what’s going on. I generally don’t check melds though.Who are these people who are doing so little in dungeons they have time to examine other's gear and get judgy about it? If it's a situation like a static and you see the people all the time, then constructive feedback to help the group is warranted. But why are you examining some random mook you'll probably never encounter again? And why are you doing that instead of doing your job in the content?

Of course. I have an entire Twitter account dedicated towards exposing and shaming people with bad melds. This is my part in making this game a better place. You can thank me later /s
I have never in the hundreds of hours that I have played this game looked at the melds of other players. Not even during savage runs. Checking gear if something is fishy? Sure. Melds? Not really
i am not 100%, but... i suppose if you wasn't leveled enough you might not have enough VIT to trigger certain bonuses/conditions on certain nodes.

personally... the only time i have ever said anything to anyone about their melds is like when they simply have a stat that doesn't benefit them for the class/job. either they made a simple mistake and don't mind someone casually mentioning it, or they just trying to troll trying to get a rise out of someone. i find the latter extremely difficult to believe, because i don't play end-game. then there have been a couple of times i have seen people with +0 materia slotted. this seems difficult to do, because the game gives you an explicit warning. but sometimes people aren't paying attention. in the end, i have never received any grief from pointing these things out to other players.
with that being said... i quite enjoy the fact that the meld window no longer shows irrelevant stats. easier to see what you can/should be melding. and less likely for people to meld completely useless stats.

on another note, and as my opinion... i do believe people should avoid slotting BOTH Direct Hit Rate and Critical Hit. i would say the only exception being the gear doesn't have room for any other stat(s) you may like/want. otherwise, i believe it would be better to capitalize on one or the other.
well, just my 2cents.
I only look at gear - their melds don't matter because they add so little that any issues are going to be down to actual gameplay problems or garbage gear rather than what trash they have melded.
If, after melding any spd that you need to hit a breakpoint, a piece is capped on crit, you meld dhit. If it's capped on dhit, you meld crit. If you can get both capped then you meld for that, and if there's room left, you meld det. It really doesn't matter so long as you're maximising your melds if you're trying to be optimal (for what little it gets you).i do believe people should avoid slotting BOTH Direct Hit Rate and Critical Hit. i would say the only exception being the gear doesn't have room for any other stat(s) you may like/want. otherwise, i believe it would be better to capitalize on one or the other.
I don't personally. And this topic is something that has always bothered me about this game. The fact that they give you the means to create a build but the stats aren't "viable," recommended by players or just worthless compared to other stats that could benefit your job more. This mainly comes from how the game and the fights are designed. Like Tenacity for example which has the potential to be a pretty cool substat, especially for tanks. A new player reading the description would think it'd be cool to have increased healing, damage and mitigation in one. Determination is like this as well. Skill Speed and Spell Speed sound like cool substats too.
Sadly, you'll benefit more from just dumping melds into DH or CRIT because the rule of "if you kill it faster, you won't need to be healed as much." Or, "Using mitigation skills offset the need for a high tenacity stat." Not to say that it isn't true...but it's a shame because literally everyone is using the same setup for a character. Tanks are a DPS, DPS are a DPS, Healers are a DPS!! (well used to be. I don't know what changes were made this expansion since I don't play healer)
It almost makes me wish SE did a stat remodel and made everything useful as well as added the percentage accuired to the number so you actually know what they do. FOr example, having 2000 tenacity will give you a 6% bonus to defense, attack and healing.
Unless you are doing top tier content I doubt hardly anyone would care. I honestly I cant recall the last time I have bothered to examine another player. and if you look at mine. Mesh meld of determination, direct hit, skill speed, and tenacity...... Simply because all I had at the moment and didn't really want to spend any gil. Until I find a FC that matches my play schedule I am just tossing in what I randomly get.
