Paladin seems like a good choice. I won't have to wait around in DPS queues (which while they don't seem too bad, they are certainly longer than tank queues) plus wielding a Sword/Shield and facing the enemies/bosses head on to tank them feels very appropriate. I find it weird that the story regards you as solely taking down these big threats when in actuality you could've done anything from take it's hits to stabbing it in the back to healing the people being hit by it. As the tank it at least seems fitting as enemies attention is squarely focused on you. Their DPS rotation also doesn't seem too complex but also isn't just 1 attack + a dot like healers which I like. The fact that Paladin seems to be more of a support tank than the others also really appeals to me. I love having support abilities.

However, I feel bard might fit what I am looking for a bit more. There's obviously the difference between Tanking and DPSing and I'd have to say I prefer DPSing if only a bit more. I don't dislike tanking, it's still quite fun, but there is an added layer of stress. I'm not sure how long it would take me to build up the confidence to do wall to wall pulls like people seem to want. Bard also allows more freedom of movement while fighting which I really like. Having to be close to the enemy to hit them isn't a problem but not having to stop attacking to avoid AoEs is nice. Their whole rotating through 3 song phases seems interesting and while I like Paladin's aesthetic, I'm like bards just about as much. The preview Paladin gear looks a bit bulky for my tastes, though the most recent Paladin armor is more to my liking than the most recent Bard stuff. I'd say Sword/Shield is also a bit cooler than bows in general.
