A Sword glamour for PLD shield?

Hello there,

I was thinking about how about having a sword as an option for the shield's slot as glam for PLD? We already have an option to make it invisible, but I would like to have a feel like a Gladiator with two blades/glaives.

Also, there's a character from FFXII named Judge Gabranth who dual wields blades but I consider a Gladiator/tank and FFXIV GLA's class icon are two crossed blades! ;_;

any hopes?

That wouldnt look good, if they just give us sword that will float in our hands.

Some of the skills are tied with a shield like shield lob and etc, it would look really weird.

However we have some cool shield with blades sticking from them already.

The closest currently are the 3 Bladed Lantern Shields, small shields with 2 "swords" built into them. Bladed, Cobalt Bladed, and Mythrite Bladed Lantern Shield

They'd need to redo all fighting animations for it to even look good (fighting stance, block/parry, shield moves). If they'd redo just half of them, you'd end up with a sword in your off hand which you never attack with.. It's more realist to ask for a dual wielding job instead

The irony is, when ROG/NIN was added to the game a lot of their weapons were actually taken from GLA/PLD, like the gladius type swords, so in a way ROG/NIN is the dual-wielding sword user. Thus, I hate to say it, but GLA/PLD will never dual wield swords (the big clue is PLD's Job icon, it's a shield, and that is what half your abilities utilize.).

And ignore GLA's Job icon showing two crossed swords - MRD's icon shows two crossed great axes and they can't dual wield either. It's a metaphor for 'crossing swords' with the enemy as a dualist in the Colleseum, not an indication you can dual wield.
