Today I learned I suck

Nah, I dunno why people bother so much with how others mog their character.
I never really pay attention to it.

I had someone give me shit because of my NIN mog, because apparently wearing the Dalmascan top invalidated my whole mog because according to this person it's unimaginative and unoriginal and serves no other purpose than '' to be horny for nerds ''.
At the start of the dungeon they were all like '' *Sigh...*, and I asked them what for and they went all glam police mode on me lol.
Same person's mog was a full set of one of these.




But no, my mogs are the bad, unoriginal and invalid ones apparently because of the Dalmascan top or the Ruffled skirt.
My mogs that all have unique parts, but the full set is the very original and imaginative one mhmm.








I mean it's fine to have personal tastes, but some people gotta learn that personal taste doesn't equate to everything that doesn't fit that being unoriginal or bad.

I have a fun perspective on this: I've been accurately logging roulette duty pops, what role I was on, whether or not I opened with advice, and how many comms I got at the end.

I don't queue as DPS since I don't have all day, but I have over 2000 duties since the start of ShB logged and healer/tank is about 50/50 since I switch to what happens to give insta queues at the time.

Average comms when not offering "unsolicited advice" adjusted for 4-man vs 8-man duties: 1.07 comms.
Average comms when offering advice: 2.57 comms.

So, sorry if it annoys you but I'll take the chance that it *is* appreciated.

On-topic: My biggest annoyance is people shaming others for wanting to spend their time in the way they please, to the point of deliberately sabotaging dungeons to "show them." Yet another reason I never ever queue DPS, at least as a healer you can overcome their attempted sabotage.

I sort of split the difference. If I see the Watching Cutscene status or if someone says "Hey, first time" or "New here" I'll usually open by saying they can ask any questions they want and leave it to them. If there's a particularly unique or odd mechanic I'll briefly explain it. Otherwise I won't necessarily go into detail unless they ask. I'll just leave the door open. If I see someone clearly struggling with their role or a mechanic, I'll ask if I can offer advice (and if they keep messing it up but don't ask I'll usually politely give them the advice anyway).

So, yeah, I'll freely offer advice but won't go explaining everything unless asked (or unless I clearly need to). I will agree about the comms though. If that's any indication of response, I usually play DPS and definitely do get more comms even in that role if I communicate and help more.

Not really annoying but amusing. Players who wear all black. Lol like seriously, there are so many different color combinations and glam options that you can use but everyone just results to the same bulky black attire. Don't even get me started with how everyone defaults to either black hair, white hair (why) or (eek) a combination of both. Everyone wants to look like Max Shreck apparently. I'm not judging. Too much. (Off topic; didn't feel a thread warranted it)

Some sets are very limited in what dyes actually look good on them though. I have a banger set for my healers comprised of the Edengrace top (savage), Griffin gloves (pvp), Bonewicca head, princess skirt and Forgiven shoes. The way the trim and some accessories work on the dye channels means only the default or jet black really pull it all together.

The main thing that's been annoying me lately though are just boosters who don't know their job but want to play the latest and greatest instead of going through the leveling experience and really getting that muscle memory built in. Like I have nothing against boosting, but it really hinders the group when you don't know what you're doing and just try to wing it. The amount of BRD's I see who have worked peloton into their combat rotation and let DoTs fall, WHM's who cast Holy in a corner away from everything or WHM's that just let the tank die just to squeeze in that last Glare is just driving me nuts.

I'm an advocate of boosting because it's insanely easy to look up your job guide and play at a decent level right off the bat. Only with the caveat that you've been playing for a while and understand how your first job works at a higher level, though. My hope is that brand new players don't boost, it's a waste of money even because MSQ is absolutely insane exp. Unfortunately what you've described happens with or without boosting. It's just players never looking at their tooltips to begin with.

Another thing is people not asking for help. Like I get what it's like to be the new player but please, if you don't understand something PLEASE ask for help. We aren't going to bite your head off if you need clarification on things. Far too many people say they understand something only to find out that they don't actually understand something and that's when people start to get the whole passive aggressive train rolling on the tracks.

Might take the new wave of players some time to understand this. WoW was a very different culture. Some new players mentioned turning their leaf off to hide their NA status out of fear.

- Getting tanks that spin the boss when I decide to play a melee class after so long. Kindly ask them to stop but met with silence.

- People thinking vote kicking sprouts/veterans who are detrimental to the party as a whole is "toxic and bad".
Examples: Tank super undergeared healer can't keep them up. DPS who don't use their AoE skills/their toolkit. Healer super undergeared to the point their heals aren't doing jack crap. Sorry, but difference of playstyle is covered under these kicks. If someone is bringing down the party and wasting their time, people are free to kick these people. Kindness/understanding only goes so far, including if the offender is already in Stormblood. Coming into Sirensong Sea with level 50 pieces is NOT OKAY. Gear your asses up, thanks.

- Being called "Toxic" (Buzzword these days) when asking party members to perform basic mechanics so the party doesn't wipe. I'm talking about people NOT new to the duty. They just refuse to try and do the bare minimum. Super annoying.

Nitpicking, but I can't stand that the Halberds in this game are all held upside down / backwards. It's been this way since the game launched.

The choppy axe bit goes towards the enemy (in most cases,) Square. That said though, I wouldn't mind an aesthetic toggle to reverse or flip pole arms and swords. There are scenarios in which you would opt to use the pick or the hammer on some of these weapons.

I see sprout I do ALL the puzzles lol. . Usually I ask first though. Or like the branching areas in Satasha. Drives some of the older players mad (though I will take majority vote into consideration, my point isn't to make the run worse xD), but honestly I feel that was really fun touch that I'm a bit sad the community drove SE away by the essence of how they pushed linearly through everything (encourages SE to make hallways).

Would be neat to see puzzle-y / branching perhaps metroid-vania like old school like dungeons that perhaps are first introduced to tight group communities but after some time also made possible via trust / squadron (such that the content doesn't die, though clearly the AI will need to have buttons and allocations of algorithims to make them complete-able, like "stand here 4" "summon 4" etc).

DPS that runs ahead, dies, then complains....respect the holy trinity, wait for the tank.

People who don't use the Signs system. Let me help you out; Party > Signs > pick a number. Or Shift+M. Helps the DPS and or the tanks.
