Hrothgar Review

I'm very pleased with hrothgar, more than any other race. They should fix the barber to change hair, and expand what headgear can be worn for those that want it, but that's the only problem I have. I never wear any helmets anyway personally.

The biggest draw is that it's the first actually unique non-human race we've ever gotten, unless you count lalafell I guess. Just wish they hadn't caved and made viera as well, then we could have had female hrothgar too.

I do wish they hadn't have given the viera multiple ear types. I have a feeling that is part of why it's hard to get the headwear on, they're trying to get them for both races equally in the long run. If it was just Hrothgar, we really only have one ear style so that's easy to cover up. Viera has...2-4 different style of ears to account for?

It's been around a month and overall I must say I'm more dissapointed then pleased with the race and below is why.

Hardly any headgear can be worn, though I appreciate the devs work to make some headgear wearable before shb came out.

Can't make full on tiger cause they didn't give a bald head or at least super short hair option for one of the faces.

I'm still a hrothgar but I don't know for how long, I'm hoping by 5.3 they add some new faces/hairstyles, I'm try to hold out but don't know if I can.

Hopefully the bunny girls are in a better situation then us because I was all pumped up for hrothgar when they got announced, even after hearing limitations they'd have, but getting in game and getting to try them out I must say I am eating my words when I said release em anyways they look so cool.

In closing they look cool, unless you were hoping for a tiger cause they just end looking like a lion with tiger make up on, and I'm really hoping more hairstyles/faces get added cause with some more options this race can be super bad ass but currently thier let limitations feel as bad as blue mage to me.

If only SE had only done 1 race (preferably the hrotgar race, it adds much more) and stuck to it, worked hard on it, we would be looking at an amazing new race that adds a lot to all players and that makes ppl super excited to play the game more. What we got are 2 halfs of a race, both halves being severly unfinished, unpolished, and lacking some of the most basic of features. I only hope SE learns from this and dosent try to do 2 genderlocked races at a time again, and instead focuses on making a good, polished, final product with a high level of detail and polish for players to enjoy, ratehr than rushing 2 halves fo something making those halves extremely unfinished

Ended up using the free fanta from the game time deal to switch mine back to an Au Ra, it just infuriates me to such a stupid degree that they feel so rushed. I get that they were designing them alongside with Viera but not having a separate option for faces and hair is just a deal breaker. Already bad enough that most of the headgear doesn't work for them save for glasses and items from ShB. Icing on the cake was also the terrible naming conventions for them. I stuck with my old Au Ra name until they released them so I had something that fit my character and holy crud was the lore behind the names terrible. I'll pass on them until SE puts some actual effort them whenever that happens.

Looks like you aren't the only one, a lot of people are switching from hrothgar after today, viera too. I wonder how popular the races will actually be after the dust settles. I'm gonna try to hold out, but when I get more money I doubt I will be able to just stop myself from pressing the buy button for a fantasia when I checkout for the most recent outfit.

Unfortunate, hilarious that I may once again go full circle back to the almost exact same au ra I always play. That's the race I need to say enough with the fantasias. SE has definitely gotten too much money out of me over this debacle, and many others. It really just sucks. I really like viera, and I know a lot of hrothgar players love hrothgar, but SE decided to bungle it all.

What I like about Hrothgar:
- The stripes on Helion's face. I wanted it on my miqote which I replicated with face tattoo.
- Their emotes are such joy to look at.
- Chair /sit pose.
- Bigger cat!

What I dislike about Hrothgar:
- Hairstyle attached to face as other have mentioned again and again. I really like Face #3 but I hated the hair they come with.
- Hunched back. Can be temporarily fixed with /cpose.
- No more miqote's signature /aback.

If it's correct then this infuriates me. I spent millions of gil and weeks of my time getting hairstyles, paid real money for some and this is a huge slap in the face from SE to all of the players who are on the same boat as me.

I can understand it could be hard to give the big cats any of the old hairstyles but the bunnies literally have human-like faces, I fail to see a reason as to why they can't have at least the obtainable hairtyles.

They've already stated that Viera will be getting some legacy styles that the other races have access to. Hrothgar will be getting all new race specific hairstyles and faces.

This got a bit confusing then.
Still sad for the big cats but they must be hard to work with being so different from other races.
Just hope that with the new hairstyles for them devs will consider letting people change them without a use of a Fantasia.

Considering that the question regarding if there will a way to use the aesthetician for free for hrothgar hairstyles has over 100 likes on it's first ask, over 50 on the second, and over 40 on the third (mine btw,) it's safe to say that they chose to ignore this question on purpose. To top it off, they're still going to release more hairstyles without actually even giving an answer to that question.

It really sucks for me because Hrothgar was what I wanted in this game: an actual playable, very beast-looking race. But as the days go on, I'm starting to realize it would've been far better had they pushed this back. I can live with limited hairstyles. But I can't accept that we have to pay for a fantasia if we choose to change our hairstyles when heck, the other newest race can do it for free.
