Cancelling your subscription is different than cancelling your service account. All you ever need to cancel is your sub, otherwise cancelling your service account deletes everything.

Also, those 3 months you subbed would have had to have been in the final year of 1.x, otherwise they were not counted for the campaign.

All characters were transferred. Your character may be on a Japanese datacenter, mogstation should tell you, unless you deleted it and forgot about it.

Legacy status was part of a campaign. You had to sub 3 months in 2012, and they sent emails about it. That was the reason I returned to 1.0. That and the goobbue mount. If the new game was going to be good, I wanted to be a part of it, and the benefits were nice. Perma discount and some unique stuff. Plus, the nael fight at the end of 1.0 was neat.

Mog Station claims that there is no Character on the Account. Also, there is no trace of 1.0 to be found - The only thing I can see is under subscribed services: Final Fantasy XIV 9th of November 2010 and Base Account Service: 9th of November 2010

Which means, that I DEFINITELY with NO DOUBT had FF XIV before ARR release. But unfortunately, no paid Subscriptions or Information regarding Subscriptions are found on the Account whatsoever - And no other Character for Final Fantasy XIV either.

So ... What could have happened to my poor little Account?

You wouldn't have a trace of 1.0 on the account. The only difference was legacy status. All 1.0 licenses were rolled into arr licenses.

If you ever had a character on the accou t it was migrated. It sounds like you didn't

I don't believe this part was needed. I have a legacy account, but that's only because I took a gamble on ARR and purchased the required sub-time (I believe this was 90 days). I had quit the game far before the campaign came around - I never hit max level and didn't complete the MSQ.

As mentioned up above, any existing 1.0 character brought over into ARR carried received the tattoo, but the legacy pricing was a special campaign.

So you mean it sounds plausible that I activated FF XIV on the 9th of November 2010 and never even created a Character? So my memories playing in 1.0 were just a fluke? I literally bought the game, activated the Account, never touched it afterwards?

This sounds very unlikely, even if it was 9 years ago.

You said you had 2 accounts. Maybe you deleted a character afterwards, or did something else. I don't know. Maybe someone else got in your account. Do you remember your character name? Plug it into lodestone.

I checked - The second Account didn't have FF XIV activated before ARR was released - Before that, it was a FF XI Account.

So the old Account was DEFINITELY played in Legacy and early ARR, my friend even has the Character in his Friendslist still. Char Name was "Stella Nia". The char is just nowhere to be found.

Maybe I will ask the Support if they can find that character somewhere... Its very mysterious.

There are two separate v1.0 things I have seen mentioned in this thread.

    1. The legacy mark on your character

    2. Legacy Status on the service account.

The legacy mark required only that the character existed in V1.0 as of the save date on October 31, 2012. If you picked up such a character in ARR, it will have the mark as long as that character is not deleted. It does not matter what level the character had. It could be any level from 1 thru 50. The character did not need to be active. It could have been created at any time from the beginning of service on September 22, 2010 until the save date on October 31, 2012. (It was not possible to make a new option to make a character after September 29, 2012, but if you already had a vacant option from before then, you could still create a character.)

The Legacy Status required that the Service Account for FFXIV have paid 90 days worth of subscription fees at any time during the period from January 6, 2012 until September 29, 2012. It could have been in the form of 3 30 day subscriptions, or 1 90 day subscription. The 90 day subscriptions were only offered thru June 30, 2012. But the 30 day subscriptions were available until September 29, 2012. The 30 day subscriptions did not have to be consecutive as long as 3 of them were paid within the stated period.

The legacy status would only apply to the one service account for which the subscription was paid. If there were other service accounts on the same SE account, they would not get legacy status unless they also had paid subscription in the noted time period. (It has always been possible to have up to 8 FFXIV service accounts and 10 FFXI/Playonline service accounts on a single SE account. Yup.... 18 total service account across 2 games on just one SE account.)

In addition, there was the special cutscene extras that could happen with a character that had been carried over. The very first CS at character creation time (the cart or boat ride) was altered for all characters that were carried over from v1.0. No cart or boat ride for those characters. All the other altered Cutscenes were only available to characters that had completed a very specific Quest in V1.0 called "United We Stand (city name)".

IIRC when Legacy was being brought up during the beta prior to the release of ARR the sub time was dropped as the requirement since people thought it was unfair that they would have had to play what was a very broken game in order to qualify, so it was changed to having a character on an active account/having purchased 1.0. Or what Dsherman said.

I wish I could remember the login information for my old ARR 1.0 account. :C
